NT Magazine: May (by NewsTeam )

We are just a day away from June which means summer is finally upon us! We can look forward to good weather, relaxation on the beach, fresh produce, and not to mention, vacation. Unfortunately, June is for many a very busy month, as it is often the month for exams that have to be passed before we can relax and enjoy a vacation. NT wishes everyone who has exams the very best of luck!

The month of May has been a pretty slow one on VP, presumably because many have been preparing for exams. However, we did get a new feature! It is now possible to upload your own designs to the system, which will relieve the designers of a huge task. If the sets are declined, you will still receive feedback as usual. However, this feature is locked until you reach the level of National Star to prevent spamming. We are very excited to see all the new designs this will hopefully inspire.

To round off, we want to remind everyone that our applications are still open, and if you are interested in applying then you can find all the information you need in this article.

The Mega Credit Week of May began on May 2nd and ended on May 8th. This month there were bonus sets designed by Solovey if you bought any of the packages above €2. The female MCW packages were the usual €2-96 and if you bought the €96 package then you got a total of 8 sets. The males had 2 MCW sets, one by Kino (the €2 package) and one by Aske (the €6 package). You can find all the sets in this forum.

On the first weekend of May, May 7-8th, the monthly auction took place. There we no male auction sets. The female auction sets were made by Encrede and Klavier (the credits set) and Igneous (the popdollar set). You can find the sets in this forum.

We also had two bigger Admin updates this month. The first one was on May 4th when the new game, the 2048 game, was added to VP. They also informed us about an improved uploading system that was in development and also informed us that they are going to host a logo competition for a new VP logo which is a part of making the site more user and mobile-friendly. The second update was on May 20th when the Admins informed us that the new uploading system had been added to the site. This new uploading system means that everyone can upload their own sets instead of having to send the items in a message to the DesignerTeam. Originally there were some issues with the new system but hopefully, all the issues will be solved over time.

This month has been pretty calm in terms of competitions, with only two, both hosted by the Social Media Team. The month began with the classic Who wore it best-competition, this time featuring a beige dress for females and a beige shirt for males (found in the fashion shop), which users had to make an outfit with. Many of the entries went in the cottage core direction, but as usual, there was a large variety of looks made; check them out here. The 19 female and four male winners, who were announced on Twitter, received a lovely hair designed by Bones.

The second competition of the month, titled “Smile for NASA”, was space-themed. It made use of NASA's archive of astronomy-related pictures, including photos from space, which has been updated every day for nearly three decades. Those who entered had to find the photo posted on their birthday or any other date of their choice, and make a look inspired by it. While some photos seemed more difficult than others to work with, the entries, which you can find in this thread, are a testament to the creativity of the users on the site. The winners, who will be announced on Instagram, will receive one of the stunning matching sets made for both females and males, designed by Allie.
