♡ blog: top 5 favorite songs of the month ♡ |
Please keep in mind, that personally I love indie music, therefore the majority/all of these will be indie music. If you do not like the genre, that's fine, but please be respectful. I will provide youtube video links and also spotify links with the songs I put, and each explanation I put is my own interpretation of the song. 1."The Beach" by The Neighbourhoodhttps://open.spotify.com/track/2u0CelO5c81XS7z3dGpHbS I picked this song because I've been listening to it non-stop. It's incredibly calming and sad, as it revolves around someone with mental illness being too dependent on someone, whether that be someone you're in a relationship with or just a friend. This is suggestive by many verses in the song, such as "Now I need your help with everything that I do, I don't want to lie, I've been relying on you" and "Fallin' again, I need a pick-me-up I've been callin' you "friend," I might need to give it up" Overall, this is a song that conveys a lot of emotion ~~~~~ 2. "505" by The Arctic Monkeys https://open.spotify.com/track/58ge6dfP91o9oXMzq3XkIS I picked this song, because like the first song, it also has a bit of emotion. It revolves around a relationship going south, in which the singer is madly in love with his girlfriend and not wanting to leave her. This is suggested by some of the verses, such as "Stop and wait a sec When you look at me like that, my darling, what did you expect?" and "But I crumble completely when you cry It seems like once again you've had to greet me with 'Goodbye'" Overall, I believe many could relate to this song. ~~~~~ 3. "Radio" by Lana Del Rey https://open.spotify.com/track/4PMdq7Q7xOFrY424ZelZEb I picked this song because it's positive in a way. Lana is saying no one can bring her down and hints that her life has new meaning, and yet her life is sweet like "cinnamon", although cinnamon is actually quite bitter. She acknowledges her life with fame is good, yet also has its drawbacks. It's suggested by these verses: "Not even they can stop me now Boy, I be flying overhead Their heavy words can’t bring me down" and "Now my life is sweet like cinnamon Like a fucking dream I'm living in Baby, love me cause I'm playing on the radio" Overall, this song is more positive > negative surprisingly, due to Lana's music being quite depressing most of the time. ~~~~~ 4. "Blue Madonna" by BØRNS featuring Lana Del Rey https://open.spotify.com/track/4JEhFF1J95HoXuuXkyxMyS I chose this song because it has a calming melody and Lana and Garrett's voices blend very well together. This song revolves around admiring pure and untouched beauty. There isn't any emotional depth to this song, just someone admiring a beautiful girl. This is shown in these lines where it says: "Just want to make her feel like a virgin A version of herself that she once knew" and "But I just wanna watch her Like a candle in the moonlight" Overall, it's a beautiful song and the vocals are phenomenal. ~~~~~ 5. "Fumes" by EDEN featuring gnash https://open.spotify.com/track/7fJALFBexDXzu0QdatF5O4 I chose this song because, similarly to "505", it's also about a relationship that's going down south as well as false hope. This is shown in these lines: "That we keep falling for the lure of Liquid confidence and lies And we skydive from walls we built Dying just to feel alive" and "If all we have is time, then we'll be alright It's not much, but it's better than nothing (Whoa) We're running on fumes, but we'll make it through the night It's not love, but it's better than dreaming" Overall, though it does not sound like a sad song, it indeed has emotion in the lyrics. ~~~~~ If you got this far, thank you for reading! If you listen to any of these or have listened, please do share your opinion on it in the comments. These are my interpretations of the songs, and if you interpret them differently, do share! <3 |
