I have decided that I will do a little "tour" to show you which Moomin mugs that are my personal favourites. For the time being I don't know how many posts I will publish on this topic, but I would suspect it is going to be at least three with them all being published here on my personal blog. I hope people will enjoy this as much as I do, after all, it is possibly my favourite hobby, despite it being a little materialistic. For each blog post I will talk about three mugs, some of them will probably get more attention than others, but it does not mean I love some of them more than others.
This mug was natural for me to start with, and it means a lot for me. This February my maternal grandmother sadly passed away after a short period of illness. She passing away resulted in me deciding that I would get mugs in honour of my grandparents when they are no longer among us, to combine the memory of them with a hobby I will have for all my life. This mug, Night Sailing, was released in 2010 in honour of the 65th anniversary of the first Moomin book's release. The first book was released the same year as my grandmother died, but this was something I realised after I had bought the mug. I got the mug because for me it represents what she loved, being near and on the ocean. Before her health started on its decline around 2010, she could spend 12+ hours on the ocean, regardless of time of day and weather. Even after, she would do all in her power to go fishing with my mother and my uncle.
This mug showing up is probably not surprising for anyone, it is possibly the most obvious mug for me to bring up as a favourite, namely the blue Snufkin mug. This mug is in fact the first mug I bought off someone as it was no longer in production, and thus no longer available for retail price in stores. For me, this mug is easily one of the most beautiful mug, its simplistic nature and the relaxing vibe of it. The colours really work nice together, and it captures the relaxed nature of the character I love. It's a mug that has a very calming effect on me, and it is among the mugs I get the most joy from. I genuinely feel happy whenever I see it and the few times I use it. As I have a lot of Moomin mugs, I rarely use this one, I'm terrified of dropping it or scratching it, or in general doing anything with it which can result in it losing some of its vibe. And last, but certainly not least in this first blog post about my favourite mugs, we have this fantastic, yellow Little My mug. I love the simplicity of the 00s mugs, and how they combined colours like they have done in both the Snufkin mug and the Little My mug. They certainly picked some fantastic original drawings of the characters as they truly captures how the characters are. Yellow is not the most common "base" colour on the Moomin mugs, which possibly results in this, at least in my humble opinion, being a very appealing mug. It stands out as something different because of its colour. I came across it on a market in Helsinki, and despite not being the richest bloke around, I had to have it. As the majority of my mugs, it contributes to getting me in a better mood, I love using it, but not to an extent where it would rapidly lose its shine and colours.
I would like to add that the pictures I have added on my blog is not mine. I would also thank @Delewie for the lovely banner!
Also a little disclaimer: this is no advert for the mugs, it's simply me sharing the love. Which mugs are your favourites?
