My cats, chapter 3 : Zukie |
Zukie, a.k.a the trouble maker. She was born the 23rd of March 2018 close to the town i lived in for almost a year. She is a mix between Ragdoll and Norwegian Forestcat. I picked her up the same day we moved to our new apartment in my home town. The 16th of June 2018. She laid under the seat of the car the whole trip. She wasn't satisfied at all. Meowed a lot and i had to listen to her complaints in 4 hours straight. We introduced her to the new apartment firstly during 24 hours before she got to meet her new big sister Nessie. Zukie was really chill during the introduction of the other cat but Nessie was super pissed on her. Zukie was still just a little baby on less than 3 months while Nessie was 1 year older. She ran around exploring. We had a huge cat tree for them to play in. A month after that we got another one, also huge, that's on the balcony. Zukie always sleeps on the balcony, in her little own hammock we brought her the same day as the tree. Is cold and comfy out there during the night. I was afraid Zukie and Nessie wouldn't get along and we would have to give Zukie away. But it took less than 24 hours until Nessie got bored of holding grudges. Zukie loves to play but can also cuddle a lot. While she does that she never sits still. She goes around to every person sitting in the room wanting full attention. All attention. But sometimes during the night you can wake up and she is laying on your chest purring. Zukie is the dominant one. She eats the most too. When we got her she didn't even weight a kilo. Now she is the double of Nessie. But she still knows that Nessie is the boss. Because she stops messing with Nessie if Nessie hiss at her or puts up a paw towards her. Zukie has never learned how to clean her own forehead or face. She is quiet lazy in general but when she is having her clean time, she lean towards Nessie for Nessie to clean her face. It's really cute to see how Nessie actually do it as well. She is like a mother figure to Zukie. Their favourite toy is a lacer pointer. When they hear you pick it up, they come running. Especially Zukie. She can start sounding like a chicken while running after it. Next best toy is feather sticks. She loves to play fetch. Every time we throw it, she comes back with it right away. She also likes to drink from the tap, even though she lays in the sink she does that. She loves to somehow sleep in the sink too sometimes. I can guess it is because she likes it cold. In September we had our first incident. Zukie chewed off Simon's headphones and it made him pretty upset with her. Not long after that she bit off the computer mouse worth £ 80. None of us was quiet happy with her. She got into some kind of phase. She constantly chewed off stuff so we had to hide cables. We bought chew sticks for her to bite on and eat but ironically enough she hated them. I don't know if it was the texture or the taste but none of them was acceptable apparently. Nessie however loved them, it was the only thing ever that Nessie loved eating and Zukie didn't. Zukie is castrated and shouldn't be doing what she was doing. I found a big whole, approximately 5 x 5cm in the bedspread. Why? It's all we keep asking. She could chew on our clothes, our cables, my backback and i don't know how many shoe laces she bit off. In the end i think it was at least 10 charging cables she managed to break. Two head phones, one computer mouse, my new tablet, the TV cable, our DVD. Basically all cables even though we hid them and changed position on them. She always managed to grab them and pull them out or find a spot we hadn't covered it with. It ended up with me going to the vet with her. Even though we were in no economic position to, I had to. They checked her gums, took blood tests, her temperature and weight. Poor baby was so stressed out and so pissed. The results came back good. But the vet advised me to buy a special kind of food to calm her down because it most likely was because of her being unstimulated. Which we already knew she were. Unfortunately the food did not work. It ended with her breaking my new swimsuit. Chewing that off too. Me and my parents had talked before about if Zukie should stay with them until we can afford a house with a garden ourselves in the future. Because we knew Zukie needed to be outdoors too. To let her energy out and not biting on everything we own. So we did. We drove her down and it broke my heart so much. Because even though she is such a trouble maker, i still love her so much. And it's not the same home without her laying in her hammock or sitting on the kitchen table rioting in the morning. It took a week for me to stop crying over it. But my little baby had an amazing home now. She's lived there for a month now, so she moved there around the 11th of July. She hasn't breaken anything at my mom's. She is outside a lot but not far away. My aprents recently moved too, to the country. And it's a lot of nature there. Animals, trees, leafs to chew on. Her new thing is now to bring moths inside. She goes out only to catch them, then bring them in alive and chase them around in the house. Dad told me she brought in 4 moths in one hour the other day. Their other cat Teddy brings in mice. Which isn't too appreciated by my parents nor my little sister. Only yesterday he brought one in alive and let it loose inside. It ran in to my little sisters room and hid among the piles of clothes. Zukie, my dad and Simon my fiancé chased the damn mouse for 30 minutes. Until Teddy came in and just took it. Zukie is satisfied with moths, so that's a good thing. In the day light, she haunts dragonflies and brings them in instead. Super fun, according to her. I slept at my parents' the other day and Zukie didn't leave my side during the whole night. And she isn't the kind of cat to just stick around all night. It made me so warm inside. Here's Zukie with Teddy. They are so gorgeous and Teddy loves her too. Love you Zukie.
