 Report🖋️ Tattoo Tour 2021
Tattoos! Some love them, some hate them. I for one definitely belong to the sooner category. I started planning out what kind of tattoos I wanted when I was 13 and just two months after turning 18 I went and got my first tattoo. Since then it's been a slippery slope down to the tattoo world, it's certainly true what they say: "Once you've gotten your first, you're hooked".

Since my first one I've gotten tattooed pretty regularly, although I've set a rule for myself to only get tattooed during the colder months like October-March, mainly because it's easier to heal them in my opinion. And of course now, due to the pandemic (and some financial issues) I haven't gotten tattooed since March 2020. My plan now is to first become a blood donor (you have to wait at least 6 months after you've been tattooed before you can give blood) and then I'll start actively saving money to get another tattoo once covid has died down some more.

Anyway, I love seeing other people's tattoos and their stories behind them, so until I can get another one I thought I'd give you a little tattoo tour of what I currently have! I'll show them in the order I got them (apologies if some pics are worse in quality), tell you a bit about the experience, the pain scale and the approximate prices of them. And I'd love for you to share your tattoos in the comments as well!

Let's get started!

My first tattoo was done on October 22nd 2016 in honour of my grandfather. It was the 10 year anniversary of his passing and the tattoo artist was kind enough to come in extra because it was a Saturday (the shop was normally closed on weekends). The story behind it is that after my grandfather passed, we went and emptied his house, and when we were there I found a playing card; the king of diamonds, laying by itself away from the deck. Since then I've kept that card in different wallets with me, like a memory of him. And so I wanted to make that memory permanent in case I'd lose the playing card some day.

It only took about 20 minutes to get done and it wasn't painful at all, it mainly felt like an itchy/numbing vibration in my arm so it was definitely a placement for a first tattoo! If I remember correctly I payed 600 SEK for it.

The next tattoo I got was in November 2017, I had been a fan of water colour tattoos for a while and wanted something for myself. And I wanted something in honour of my cat back then, so I made water colour paw prints with his paws and got them tattooed. Sadly, we had to put him down in 2019 so I'm incredibly thankful that I got the tattoo beforehand and not as a memorial tattoo. ♥

It took about 2-2,5 hours and I paid 1800 SEK. It was more painful than the first tattoo for sure, mainly because it's bigger. But other than that it wasn't too bad, I'd rate it a 4/10 maybe on a pain scale.

After this I became bold to say the least, I did two mandala tattoos on each of my elbows in ONE sitting. Not to brag but it might be my biggest achievement, haha. Not gonna lie, it hurt like a b*tch (a solid 9/10) and I did not think I would make it through the entire sitting, but I thought it would be worse to leave and come back to finish it another day. It took almost exactly 6 hours including breaks and I payed 6000 SEK, totally worth it, would not do it again though.

Looking back I probably would've had them done less detailed, the lines are so tiny that a lot of them have smudged together now 3 years later (did them in april 201cool. They still look really good from a distance tho, and it's not like I see my elbows every day so I'm still really happy with them! The reason I got mandalas is because I have struggled a lot with compulsive thoughts and I'm very big on symmetry overall, the placement actually couldn't be any more perfect, it is completely even on both elbows and it makes my heart very happy.

The next ones I honestly don't remember when I got them done. I might have been after the mandalas but it could just as well have been before them. I have no idea, haha. Anyway, I got a tip from a friend to go to this dude because he had done a bunch of smaller tattoos on her which is what I also wanted. So I very spontaneously booked an appointment with him and got three smaller tattoos done in one evening.

This text is on my ribs and is lyrics from Avenged Sevenfold's "Acid Rain". It says "Life wouldn't be so precious dear, if there never was an end". Kind of cheesy, kind of poetic, either way it's one of my favourite song of theirs and it's a lyrics that always stuck with me.

Then on the front of my leg, just above my foot I got "Equality" done, and on the side I got a little horse shoe, both for good luck and because I've been doing horseback riding since I was little. They're all just very cute, tiny tattoos that don't have a huge significant meaning but I very much like them anyway! Pain wise, non of them were bad, maybe 4/10 and I think I paid somewhere around 1500 SEK all together...

After that it was time to bring my little bro into the tattoo world as well! For @Teabag's 18th birthday I paid for his first tattoo. I might be a bad sister, but I don't remember how the idea of a heart balloon was brought up, it was just something that'd been obvious we would do at some point. We drew each other's balloons which is a cute sentiment, the pain was surprisingly weird. I thought it'd be like nothing, but turns out the wrist actually hurts a bit more hahah. It wasn't too bad though, and it was over quickly. I think I paid 1200 SEK for both.

Here comes my absolute least meaningful tattoo. It is just a flash tattoo that I got from an artist I'd been following for a really long time. He's a queer, trans tattoo artist and I really admire her both as a person and tattoo artist. She has her own studio in Stockholm for anyone who's interested in a lgbtq+ friendly space, @human canvas tattoo parlour

The pain was honestly nothing, it was so quick and easy. I believe I paid 1200 SEK.

Honesly, I've kind of forgotten the order of which I got these smaller ones, so I'm just gonna show this matching one that I got together with my best friend, and then I'll move on to my favourite (and biggest) tattoos! My bff and I bonded in school over our shared love for music, rock music in particular. So there's really nothing more to that story. It wasn't painful at all, and I have no idea how much I paid for it, my best guess would be around 800 SEK.

I apologize for the terrible picture, my phone is currently dead and my only solution atm was to crop an old instagram picture. I will update the picture when I've taken a better one!

Now we've arrived to all my latest and my favourite tattoos! All of these following ones are done by @lennystatuering who I absolutely adore. The first time I went to him was in February 2019, I went to him with just a vision to fill my upper arms with various ocean creatures, he's had complete creative freedom in the designs and I could not be more happy with the outcome. We're not completely done yet and I plan on going back to him as soon as I can. But for now I've gotten four pieces tattooed during four different sessions!

First up, a jelly fish. Ironically my biggest fear in the ocean but I think they look so cool! This took about 6 hours to complete, it was painful and tiring, but manageable. It was quite interesting because at some points on the back of my shoulder it felt like he was going up on my neck or down onto my ribs, just because of the nerves he hit. It's pretty cool how the body reacts!

Next was the cutest little sea horse. "Sadly" he's on the back of my arm so I kind of forget he exists, but I love him non the less!

Inner arm fishies. These three tattoos all fill up my left arm from my elbow up.

On my right arm I got this dope octopus. This was definitely the worst one out of all four and I almost fainted after which had never happened before. I'd say the pain on this one was around 8/10 while the other ones were a 6/10. I can't wait to go back and finish up this arm, and I'm thinking about connecting them over my chest in some way... Although I don't want a huge chest piece. We'll see what the future holds!

△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽

And lastly, we have my other precious cat tattoo! This was done as a bonus right after my octopus tattoo. I had sent some reference photos of what I wanted and unfortunately I was so exhausted after the first tattoo that I didn't notice that two of the cats were pretty much the exact same as the references. I don't know if they are traced of if he just drew the same shapes, but you will find these tattoos individually all over the internet. However they still hold a lot of meaning to me.

The left cat is for my oldest cat Sigge, who's the first cat I got after I moved to my own place. The middle one is our family cat, the one who passed away who's paw prints I have on my other arm. And the right cat is my kitten (who is no longer a kitten) that I got just a few months after our family cat passed away. is it obvious that i'm a crazy cat lady yet?

There we have it! A complete tour of my current tattoos.
Now that I've shared all of my tattoos, I would love to see what cool ink you guys have, please share them with me down in the comments!
