Wait, they don't require you to take a language in Canada? In the states, you have to take at least 3 years of it in high school, and you usually need to take a couple semesters of a foreign language in college, as well. Do you speak any french? 
Well in elementary school we take French from grades 4 to 8, in high school its your personal choice.
