So, I think it is fine to finish something with your partner that you started with someone else (if you and your friend stopped watching it at some point, not if you are still actively watching it together), but not if you already said you were gonna finish it together.

With the tv show from your first post, that is also quite shitty. I would understand if you asked them years ago and now they changed their mind or maybe if it is the most favourite thing ever of her partner. But overal I would be a bit annoyed/hurt too if that happened to me. Especially if I considered myself to be close to them
