There have been many problems with discord being used for bullying and as a way to get around the VP rules, but since it's an outside source, not much can be done about the matter. By limiting the discord servers being shared they are trying to limit the amount of drama. Unfortunately it is sad for those servers that have been nothing but wholesome, sometimes people just ruin it for others lol

in my firm opinion, what happens off veepee is not a concern for veepee, even if it involves veepee users. i just think its a bad rule

so like talking about long established internet cornerstones like gaia would be disallowed under this policy? would that be enforced.

If it was an accident, I would message someone so it isn't being held against you. Although, if it becomes a problem and we notice a user doing it regularly it will obviously be classified as cheating.

If the thread holds relevance, I don't see an issue with it being bumped if the communication is still on going. I know you have a thread sharing recipes, since there is still relevance regarding the original topic of the thread, it should be fine to keep open. We'll review the threads before closing and if you disagree with a thread closure regarding this rule, you can always send a message.
