I tend to prefer the music an artist produces while dealing with substance/alcohol/personal issues more than material that's produced
when the artist is clean/sober.

That's how I feel about animal collective. Sonic Youth however are great.

Also Louisa The Smith's are one of my all-time favorites ):

How is that controversial? A lot of my favorite records were created by people who were less than sober... honestly think the self-entitled korn record wouldn't of been as good as it is if they didn't snort a bunch of meff b4 hand lol

Idk, maybe I over think it and I feel as if I'm glorifying in their pain somehow.
It probably doesn't make sense but that's the only way I can explain/describe it rn.

No I get what you mean as it does sound like glorification

Ppl can be creative while sober, but being under the influence can take you to such great heights as long as you dont let substances control you. Tbh I think ppl who think they're better 4 creating sober art are pretentious

I'm p pro drug tho

My VERY controversial opinion is I don’t think lyrics matter all that much (with a couple of exceptions, maybe rap)

I used to think MBV was just noise but now they're one of my favorites so I'm considering re-listening to animal collective

its like two things

theres music and thent heres this poetry that sometimes goes along with music right theyre like separate things and if nirvana didnt prove the words dont really matter idk what will.

like peoeple dont wanna listen to foreign music cause they cant understand it? like what you cant feel them emotions out a song without knowing the words????

doug annoys me with this shit he hates when i listen to japanese music cause he doesnt know what theyre saying. first of all you can google a translation but more than that who cares tho.
