I apologize for not being more clear on what I meant! By made up things, I meant social constructs. Made up things just sounded funnier but obviously it was a bad choice of words

social constructs make up half our experience of the world, so it's not that weird

Interesting! I'm genuinely curious because I can't relate to this! Don't social constructs confuse neurotypicals?

everyone understands social constructs to a degree. things like money are what drives society, we all understand it has no instrinsic value, it only has value because we assigned a value to it. self-identity is also a social construct, but then we get philosophical, but we still really want to feel a sense of identity so we don't feel like we're meaningless. it's in human's nature to want to assign significance to intangible matters. people with autism might have more difficulty with that indeed.

Pretty sure my family aren't made up tho???
I mean, just look at it here, right? We need money. I'm not fond of capitalism but I happened to be born into this society and that means I have to, at least to whatever extent feels fitting, adapt to it and play by its rules. One of those being money. So, I work and make money so I can pay my rent, eat, stuff like that. Everyone has to do it.

that's the point tho it's a social construct
humans made up money, it's not like a physical fact of existence, we just decided that bits of paper have this other value that we determine and use for other things

I'm a bit confused by this statement. Cause generally no? I guess it can be a bit harder/a mindfuck to wrap your head around certain things, but I wouldn't say social constructs confuse neurotypicals more than neurodivergent people?

I kow this is going to come off as I'm trying to be insulting or something which isn't the case but if this person is autistic then it explains a lot though
