I mean I get that
but what do they teach that is officially in school?
I'm just curious because I've been writing a lot about it lately and its been some time since I was in sustainability classes and we seldom talked about fashion beyond "don't buy shit"
ah I focus on the ethics side of sustainable so my title is weird so I focus on labor issues and long lasting clothes but I know people who only natural dye and use deadstock (problems with both but) and creating clothes out alternative materials
what is deadstock?

this is all just interesting to me right now lol, I got a grant for mending old clothes, and applied for another to make clothing out of recycled fabric which I hope I get.
I've been reading this really cool book on mending and fashion.
Deadstock is the left over fabric from factories, like they had 100 yards for production but met the quota and now have 10 yards left. Most factories throw it away and so people will buy it from the factories to save it from the landfill. but a problem is companies will fake deadstock

it's amazing to think that fabric used to be the most valuable thing a person could own
mended and meticulously cleaned and preserved for generations
and now they just throw away scraps

well it depends on the school but most comp sci programs are overly stressful and a lot of the curriculum is kind of esoteric shit you won't need for most jobs or unrelated to whatever you're specifically interested in. most real life comp sci related jobs you just need to be quick on your feet, work well in teams and be good at googling

if you're REALLY REALLY passionate about computer science (like, all parts of it, math and system level stuff included) study computer science, otherwise you can get by with like 1 or 2 intro courses to get your foundational stuff like object oriented programming down and then just exploring the other specific stuff you're interested in on your own

I believe it...
I've pretty much vowed to buy no "new" clothing unless it is from an artist, or underwear/leggings (duh) tho I do still try to buy leggings second hand whenever I can.
there's just so much good fabric out there, I can't feel good about buying new clothes
