Pretty sure I bombed the question on what would I do if a client wanted a candy bar that isnt allowed on a doctor ordered diet plan

I said I would ask what other things they like to eat and see if they can find a suitable alternative

Fuck that was a hars one

I don't think that was a bad answer to the question.

I said also that I would like see if I could call the doctor or a supervisor if I needed help

But then I thought "what if I couldnt" and would use my mothers celiac as an example, like she cant eat bread but she likes cauliflower pizza, would you like to try this Lara bar? You could eat it on your plan

So I kinda stumbled on words a bit ngl

I think people generally understand that you are going to stumble a bit during interviews haha. I don't interview very well for that reason, I'm bad with words, but I'm good at the work. I think that's a good answer. When in doubt, call your supervisor. Better to be safe than sorry!

Above all you want them to feel human

Diets suck but lots of people have restrictions, my mom misses bread but she loves cauliflower crusts and lettuce wraps, theres lots of other stuff we can eat, what would you like to try?

So yeah I mean I would of rephrased it if I did it over it was the only question I found truly difficult

Good luck! I do something very similar for my job. Just know it might take some getting used to and may seem overwhelming at first but it does get easier the more you do it!
What do you do?
I've done a few things in the field. I've worked as a support worker for the elderly in a retirement setting, providing care to them. Now I'm doing private care working with a guy my age who has a spinal cord injury.
Do you enjoy your work?

It's not amazing pay but it seems so fulfilling

I really hope that you get it
because you have the right attitude
and although we all have bills
you end up with something
worth more than money.
it’s challenging, some days are pure hell
you might want to cry due to frustration
md’s can be rude af
you will have pts that you can’t satisfy
no matter what and the worst..people die
but it’s also the most rewarding
and humbling experience
that will make you put a lot
of shit into perspective.

Im not putting my eggs in one basket. I'm looking into a home health agency and a nursing home with additional training (med certification, which this company also offers). I would love to work at the veterans home but it requires two years of experience unfortunately.

However this position is more social services than it is medical related. Which is why I'm attracted to it. So I wouldn't be dealing with mds. Will still be brutal though as many clients have behaviors... I've been spit on as a volunteer. Just part of the game. They do pay an additional $1.50 for cnas, which is cool.

As someone who has been in the medical/caring field for so long, do you think a "fix em and save em" attitude is detrimental?

I just like meeting people where they at, it's why I'm attracted to healthcare and social work sorta stuff. Not expecting miracles, just want to support disadvantaged people and integrate them into the community.

I'd rather get hit by an autistic person or called weird names by an elderly man with dementia than yelled at by a privilege soccer mom because shes upset we ran out of grape bowls. Lol

The amount of lazy ppl who dont realize there are people who cant cut fruit and feed  themselves and act like they are entitled to luxury convenience goods....

I am like really so done with retail

Like you could be living in poverty or dealing with a disability but you just gotta have that cantaloupe perfectly cut so junior can throw the bowl into a landfill and if the mango isnt a perfect color ur gonna call the manager, and you don't even realize you're privileged to be able to bitch about a shortage  or low quality of pre-packaged vegetables

I serve Karen's all day I hate it

I didn't enjoy it too much when I was working in retirement but I really like working in private care with my client right now. And honestly, it pays so much better. About $8 more an hour than my previous job. I love the social aspect of the job, getting to talk to people and learning their stories.
