Well one of the first things considered propaganda (if you read Hixton) during the Cold War was the Marshallplan as it was both economic and political propaganda
But tbh it's been used since the time of the cavemans as some historians consider the theory of the pictures in the caves being used as warnings or "showing off" your skills and therefore proving that you are the mightier one

Haven't read about Hixton, but that's interesting, especially the theory about cavepaintings, because honestly I can't see why they wouldn't.

Uhh, Kenneth A. Osgood (Total Cold War) is also a good read if you're interested in Cold War propaganda! Well the are a lot of theories about it because we have to admit that humans are thinking animals, therefore they can not be conviences through sheer emotion but also need fx a pictural element or something that makes sense to them
