double check for what tho

like i seen your formal writing and you didnt use any informal language like any of this

i dont think you need to like be careful to not use terms that are taken from aave. i dont like not listen to rock music because black people invented it?
i agree tbh but i do think it depends on howww u do it . like i dont think its always wrong to use terms taken from aave but its also easy to do it in a way thats like . making urself into a parody u know which is a bit :-/
like by being an asshole and using it to like mock people maybe but naturally picking up words is just something that happens and imo its weird to be like 'even tho everyone around me says 'tea' and it's beocme a part of the broader culture of all english speaking people im not gonna use it becuase of its origin in aave' like thats weird

like the natural migration of a word is like black people invent it then the gays take it and use it and then white teenage girls start using it and then the rest of us use it and thats natural.
yh no i agree! but then i also can imagine it being rly frustrating n jarring lol when it appears as tho ppl are suddenly literally like.......impersonating u, accent N everything (especially accent i think), nd impersonating things that uve been self conscious abt in certain spaces for a long time u know

Okay but ghetto? Really? Do people not know history? I've had a problem with the word ghetto being used the way that it is for quite some time but saying it's aave is plain ignorant.

also i dno like im drawing parallels between like white ppl using aave words (which i dont think is necessarily always that bad bcos of how language develops n spreads etc etc) N white ppl aesthetically imitating black ppl which i think is a bigger problem . but i cant figure out why i feel this way? looll

its not ignorant . theres a certain way that 'ghetto' is used that originates w aave. doesnt necessarily mean that black people literally invented the word 'ghetto' . obv u can use the word ghetto in a way that is separate to aave, same w words like 'tea' or 'woke' or 'lit' like those words in and of themselves arent aave but they are depending on how u use them, its abt the context

Again, I think the American meaning of the word ghetto in itself is ignorant and problematic, for lack of better terms.

i mean contemporary useage of the term does come from aave

the word just means ethnic neighborhood like i know youre gonna have different associations with the word as a jewish person and the history of nazi ghettos but the term means ethnic neighborhood.

kind of a really complicated and interesting word the way its evolved actually.

Honestly, just this entire Wikipedia page is explanation enough in my opinion.
