it's amazing to think that fabric used to be the most valuable thing a person could own
mended and meticulously cleaned and preserved for generations
and now they just throw away scraps
dont get me started on how modern production has ruined linen
Wait, I kinda wanna know how modern production has harmed linen though
Okay so Linen is a beautiful fiber but it needs a specific loom to be produced,  and it can last for ages like we still have Egyptian linen. BUT capitalist are like cotton and linen looms ??? heck no just cotton to do both so now all mass produced linen is woven wrong and thats why its impossible to work with and a wrinkley

as someone who studied computer science, don't study computer science
fuck. why?
well it depends on the school but most comp sci programs are overly stressful and a lot of the curriculum is kind of esoteric shit you won't need for most jobs or unrelated to whatever you're specifically interested in. most real life comp sci related jobs you just need to be quick on your feet, work well in teams and be good at googling

if you're REALLY REALLY passionate about computer science (like, all parts of it, math and system level stuff included) study computer science, otherwise you can get by with like 1 or 2 intro courses to get your foundational stuff like object oriented programming down and then just exploring the other specific stuff you're interested in on your own
hmmm I see thank you for your in-depth answer! I still have some time left to decide what I want to do so maybe I will just idk go in a completely different direction. I have absolutely no clue

So all the linen we have now isn’t real linen? Is it impostor linen? Cause it’s woven incorrectly does that mean it won’t last as long?

I have this hunch it has to do with the warp vs weft...

ok I think I have an answer
it doesn't answer directly, but just my own knowledge of weaving mixed with this source lol
plain weave is super easy - it's just a basic in-out-in-out, but twill weave, which linen takes to better, requires the loom being programmed differently (looms are one of the earliest forms of mechanical computer, its really wild to set one up)
