also they do self-proclaim as leftists, which in essence is the problem

99% of them are kids who don't understand politics at all. It doesn't matter if they think they are leftists, if they don't support actual leftists ideas and not just liberalism mixed with misunderstood identity politics (there is actually a big debate as to what place identity politics should have in left movements. My personal standpoint : fighting each other over minor details is counter productive when it comes making real progress)

It's still absolutely not comparable to an ideology that dictates that inferior races and people with disabilities, queer people should be killed and that a woman has to be 100% obedient.
yes i get what u mean. i also def agree that while both extremes are bad , the right side has much more violent tendencies. however, i do think the harmless facade that the extreme left puts on is its own kind of poison. i think i do fear that these kids never grow out of those sentiments

Companies cashing in on the aesthetics of progressive ideas while financing regressive politics all around the globe and Gen z falling for it because no one told them to be critical of the media they consume is genius and  one of the biggest failures of the previous generation.

I don't see how most of these are in any way controversial, but I guess in this day and age, everything is supposedly "controversial".
they're mostly controversial bc saying these in public will have you labeled as a racist (not supporting acab), islamophobe (not supporting hijabs), antifeminist etc

Also this whole sentiment that it's not your fault so why even bother trying to live a ecological life is incredibly counter-productive, yet it is super common among the tik tok and Instagram crowd. Being critical of your own consumption doesn't make you stupid, we k ow you can't save the world with that but you don't need to actively contribute to over consumption and I don't give a fuck if buying from shein is your coping mechanism or whatever.

cringe at those 400 dollar shein hauls

but yes i agree. i do think this relates to this generation's desire to be puritanical about EVERYTHING. everything u do has to be 100% blameless bc otherwise u bad person right? that's also what made choice feminism so attractive i believe, bc it absolves you of the idea that ur desires/preferences are influenced by society. if everything is for u, and ur own choice, u can't contribute to a bad system! and then ur perfect!

Yes it's about responsibility. Blaming everything on big corporations takes away that personal responsibility and gives you a free pass for bad behavior while staying pure.

And I don't mean personal responsibility as in libertarians, fuck regulations but as in you are not a toddler, you know your actions have consequences, act accordingly or live with the guilt.

The hijabi thing is a double edged sword.
One the one side patriarchal Islamic cultures that are very much misogynist and woman controlling, on the other side the westerner who wants to liberate the poor Muslim woman by also controlling her too but it's okay because it's for her own good.

Revolution in religion needs to come from within, the members of those communities need to emancipate themselves, external forces and negative pressure radicalize religious communities. There are interesting studies that Islamophobia or the negative attitude towards Muslims or whatever you might call it is a key factor for radicalization and terrorist recruiting in the western world.

yep yep also 100% agree. both are bad, what france does is bad and what UAE does is bad. and a huge factor of radicalization of muslims comes from them being excluded in western countries yes yes yes
