also im on the fence abt kill all men and all men are assholes bc like even though saying that has probably no effect on men bc of their gender privilege... it's still a structural problem. like obvs men benefit from it, but women can be just as often perpetrators and ypholders of sex based oppression esp in asian/african countries where ppl are still more traditional. and FGM is carried out by women etc etc

like this white feminist trend of haha men are shit literally gets us nowhere. women are active participants often in child trafficking and are most often the ones luring in naive moms and such and stealing their kids. yeah they're all victims as women but not blameless
Just furthering the notion that men has to be strong, scared of getting help, bla bla bla
its like if I were to call myself a feminist, it would def be the type of feminist who wants equality and looks to problems of both sexes, not just wamen problems

Okay ummm I'll just say this, I don't think this is something you can be right about. It's definitely something you can be wrong about, eg complete prohibition, but you can't be right, there are always gonna be people getting the short end of the stick. All this is to say I don't think it's fair to say that anyone working towards bettering the lives of sex workers is wrong in doing so, you know what I mean? Yeah...
no yeah im also against total prohibition, but it's indeed hard

I don't want to make an argument or come off the wrong way but I don't think it's as easy as saying it's oppressive to women.... Like, it's not a problem exclusive to women but also that doesn't mean it's not a women's rights issue but also also I think something can be bad without there being a whole overarching thing causing it, you know? I can't piece together my opinions in words but I swear I have opinions lol
youre right. its primarily a womens issue and as a woman my discussions of prostitution are framed by my own biases but patriarchy is also something that effects the lgbt and its also racist. these issues are all intrinsically linked. patriarchy (in the weast) isn't just like about opressing women its about enforcing a heteronormative hedgemony and white supremacy.
Excuse my perhaps ignorance, but I just don't see how that's true? Patriarchy is a system that gives men power over women, like, things can be bad without being other bad things. I just think it diminishes from women's abuse under patriarchy in developing, undemocratic countries to say that the women in the western world are all living under patriarchy. It's even unfair to the women 30 minutes from me, in Bnei Brak or Jenin. I think it's just too simplified to call it all patriarchy. Like, patriarchy is such a strong, loaded word, it's just hard for me to say that the women working in a tech company in silicon valley or as a teacher in a school in Stockholm is under the oppression of patriarchy when my dad's patient from Judea and Samaria killed herself trying to abort her fetus with a coat hanger because it was conceived out of wedlock and she would be killed by her family had they found out. It's just arggg it's complicated and I really don't understand it but this is just how it makes sense to me.

my brief thoughts is sex work is real work but not one should have to be exploited in the way sex workers are

buying and selling should be legal

also i specifically said that men have gender privilege and not sex privilege, bc a trans man that passes as cis will benefit from being a man, until it is known they're trans

while FGM and most oppression regarding patriarchy happens based on sex based oppression. it sounds all so convoluted but yeah...

to me it seems that you are the one who wants to simplify patriarchy and say that only the absolute worst abuses of male power qualify. it's a system of power that seeps into our every day lives in many ways.

I just think the men having more priviledge than woman in all cases is stupid. Me, white woman, vs black/asian/etc/trans/gay men. I def do not suffer under the partiarchy n I feel all of these men are below me in the legal system and in society's eyes, at least in norway
