yeah alam's argument is very "children in africa have it worse" to me
but i can see how its frustrating though if you want to like center the conversation on what you think or what are objectively more serious issues
but like the abortion example to me is a great example of how quickly womens rights can be taken from them and how fragile any gains we have in society really are. like the bullshit in texas right now has made abortion exactly as dangerous as it would be in a place like in alams example. thats right here at home for me. thats not something far away thats something that can happen in any place where women have rights if the wrong asshole gets elected you lose all of that. handmaids tale is fucking realistic.
yes i agree and i empathize w alam's point. as in, ofc women in afghanistan have it fucking bad rn u know, and i would NEVER compare my oppression to theirs. im incredibly privileged in comparison. but yeah oppression is not a straight line, and that's also why intersectionality is important. black trans women are i think in more danger in God's given USA than a cis woman in Israel might be. it really depends and the "who has it worse" rhetoric helps no one
i have HOT take about afghanistan that will get me cancelled
