Tbh I agree
I mean, I could choose to be weak and cry over everything or just accept reality as it is and be happy about small things like oh today my plants saw sunlight for 2 seconds that's nice now I'm happy
you did it. you've found the cure for mental illness congratulations

are you thinking of situational depression? bc depression is chronic. as far as i know it's lifelong but i'm not an expert or anything. but i do know for sure it's chronic
you're not correct about this or youre confused about terminology. there are multiple kinds of clinical depression and they are not all chronic. you can be diagnosed with depression during a single episode during your lifetime.
yws that's called situational depression, i'm talking about major depressive disorder which is chronic
most of this conversation has been centered around all forms of depression so coming in to tell us that "depression is chronic" without clarifying that youre saying "major depressive disorder is chronic" created some confusion here.

depression is lifelong. it can be TREATED, but that can mean long term therapy, meds, etc. the goal of therapy isn't to cure depression but to help ppl learn good coping skills & better behavioral patterns to manage depression, as well as medication & sorting through the reason someone has depression.
depression =/= being depressed. to meet the criteria of depression, u need to have at least 6 months of ongoing symptoms
& mental illness is something that can change ur brain permanently. so trying to fix urself & function like a normal person for someone w severe mental illnesses (even "just depression" cuz i see some people act like it's not "serious enough" ) is not the same as someone without
at no point in your original statement did you specify what type of depression you were talking about so this comes across as being very misleading because there are indeed forms of depression that are not chronic.

i think people think happiness is this big like magical state of being when its really actually something far more simple and attainable than that

Chronic =/= lifelong
no chronic literally means lifelong

adjectiveadjective: chronic(of an illness) persisting for a long time or constantly recurring."chronic bronchitis"Similarersistentlong-standinglong-termconstantly recurringincurableimmedicableOpposite:acute(of a person) having an illness persisting for a long time or constantly recurring."a chronic asthmatic"(of a problem) long-lasting and difficult to eradicate."the school suffers from chronic overcrowding"Similar:constantcontinuingcontinualceaselessincessantunabatingunendingpersistentperenniallong-lastinglingeringdeep-rooteddeep-seatedineradicablesevereseriousacutegravedireOpposite:temporarymild(of a person) having a particular bad habit."a chronic liar"

A chronic disease mens different things wherever u look, also diagnosing depression as chronic isn't possible cus u can't even know before the person is dead, unlike physical diseases. But yeah, it has to be persistent for a long time (tho, not THAT long in most cases, year+ ish) but that doesn't equal lifelong

Like even tho u have been depressed for 20 years, how r u gonna call it lifelong, u can call it chronic because it has lasted for a long time but that doesn't mean its lifelong lol

Psychology or whatever claims that happiness is only possible for short periods of time, very short periods of time. It's not the default, and shouldn't be the default, and shouldn't be the goal itself. Happiness is just.. I get happy sometimes and other times I don't and it's fine, it's not something I crave. It comes when it comes and when it comes I embrace it.

bruh if that's true, i dont even believe in happiness now, bc for me happiness if when u feel happy for a longer time. but the same as how happiness is relatively, so is time, and when is 'happy for a longer time'
