lmao no one is challenging me on linguistics luckily
god i wish my study object was somewhat obscure, because if i say "i am actually a history teacher, i know history" i just get pissed off teenagers accusing me of being pretentious and acting as if i am so much better than them because "i know more"

luckily, people dont tend to challenge me on my other subject, but like... it rarely pops up
One of the main perks of linguistics is that the terms used to describe language is very often outside the average vocabulary so once I actually turn my brain on to discuss language I suddenly start using other words than "lmao no"
oh yeah, language discussion is so chill because less people have a casual interest in it. but once i start talking abt syntax n morphology ppl r like "no"

depends on if i think the dragging is fair or not. honestly, the vp friends i have now rarely end up in drama - but i have absolutely jumped in to defend my friends. but im not active enough right now to keep up w the times and the dramas
that said, arguing on vp often is like talking to a brick wall. doesnt matter what credentials you have - the 16 yo who googled the topic briefly of course knows more about the topic than the master candidate.
Me, basically everytime there's a discussion about black people. It's like thanks for the "education" but I'm living the experience 🤣

Depends on, like just cuz they are my friend I won't automatically be on their side, cuz even friends can be in the wrong sometimes. But I tend to support my friends a lot yea but it all depends on my own view too.
