Hey everyone, Sarah here! It's been a while, but I'm back and ready to bring you some exciting new articles! What better way to celebrate my return than with a party!
Ok, so maybe not the best reason to party, but Halloween is coming up, and that is a good excuse to party! In this article, I'll give you a few tricks and treats about how to make your Halloween party a success.
If you have any of your own tips, leave them in the comments! I'd love to hear how you plan your Halloween parties!
Decorations
A good party needs some spooky and cool looking decorations! You don't have to go all out and decorate your whole house. Stick with the main area you'll be staying in. It will save you money, and keep guests from going places they shouldn't in your house.
It's fine to purchase decorations, but making them can be a lot less expensive and a lot more fun to do. Here are a few quick and easy ideas you can use!
Ghosts
Drape white bell decorations with cheese cloth. Add black construction paper for eyes and mouth. Simple, but really cute! Can be placed on things or hung from the ceiling.
Skull candle holder
Use a hot glue gun to stick skulls together (can be found at the dollar store). Add terracotta plates to top and bottom, then spray paint black. Really simple, but really cool looking table piece!
Pumpkin lights
Buy orange dollar store lights. Attach white plastic cups, and use a sharpie to draw pumpkin faces. Maybe you can have each guest draw their own pumpkin face! Makes it personal yet still fun.
Games and Activities
A party wouldn't be complete without something to do at the party! While there is nothing wrong with chatting with some friends, I feel a Halloween party in particular needs some fun activities! Here are a few to get you started!
Watch a Halloween movie Movies are always fun, and some can be super scary. Get in the spirit by watching a scary movie, as long as everyone is ok with watching it. I personally love a good scary movie! Give me some suggestions in the comments for some good ones!
Plan a murder mystery Was it the butler!? Or was it one of you!!?? Murder mysteries can be a lot of fun, but it does take a lot of planning. Maybe you can focus the whole party around it, and have everyone dress up as a character. Plant clues and secrets around the house, have everyone have a speciality (a detective gets hints with clues, a psychic can ask the dead a question, stuff like that). Whoever guesses the mystery will win a great prize!
Halloween themed games Add an extra spice to already popular games by making them Halloween themed. Some examples are Pictionary, charades, would you rather, etc. Don't stick on one game for too long, though, as people will start to get bored. Maybe mix it up and have 2 different games going at once. It will give your guests variety.
Hope you enjoyed my article, and good luck planning your Halloween party!
Drinks and Snacks
You can't have a party without some awesome drinks and snacks, and Halloween really opens up the door for some cool concoctions. Here are a few ideas to get you started!
Witches Brew
In a punch bowl, add 1 litre of orange soda and half a can of Hawaiian punch. Add scoops or orange sherbet and vanilla ice cream. Mix only a little bit. Add a scoop of ice cream to the top of each cup. Delicious yet super easy!
Mummy hot dogs
This one is a staple for any Halloween party. Cut Cresent roll dough into straps and wrap around hotdogs. Bake them as per instructions on the dough container. Add ketchup and mustard for eyes. Super simple, but will be eaten fairly quickly!
Vampire Cocktail
(This one does contain some alcohol. Please remember to drink responsibly)
Combine in a blender 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream, 1 Oz. Triple sec, and half an Oz. Of white creme de cacao. Poor into a cocktail glass. Drizzle grenadine on top and enjoy!
