DIY Fall Foods (by Forget )

Since fall is coming up and summer is (sadly) coming to an end, I'm going to show you some foods you can make that are very festive for the autumn time! I've got five different things you can make. Some things require using an oven so if you don't have experience with it, have someone else help you so you don't hurt yourself. Enjoy the article!

Make sure to comment a picture if you do try any of these out!
Last but not least, pumpkin pie pancakes!

What you will need:
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 1/4 cups fat free skim milk
- 2 cups of pancake mix
- 1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- (Optional) Maple syrup

1. Mix all the ingredients (except your syrup) into a bowl until smooth and thick.
2. Spray a griddle with cooking spray and heat the mix over medium-high heat. Each pancake is about 1/4 cup of the batter on the griddle, so divide up your portions by that. Cook until bubbles form by the edges.
3. Flip the pancakes and cook for around 3 minutes/until the pancakes are golden brown on the bottom.
4. (Optional) Add maple syrup on top.
We all know how delicious the pumpkin spice lattes are at Starbucks, and now you can make your own at home! It's so easy and delicious!

What you will need:
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
- 1-2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tablespoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup hot brewed coffee (this makes 2 mugs of coffee)

1. In a 2-quart saucepan, heat the milk, pumpkin and sugar on medium heat to make it hot, but not boiling.
2. Take off of heat and add 1/2 teaspoon of the pumpkin pie spice, the vanilla, and coffee, of course!
3. Pour into two mugs.
Something festive for Halloween is candy corn cookies!

What you will need:
- Flour
- Orange food coloring
- Refrigerated sugar cookie dough
- Triangle shaped cookie cutter
- Dark chocolate
- White chocolate

1. Knead the flour and orange food coloring into your sugar cookie dough.
2. Use your cookie cutter to cut them.
3. There is no exact time to bake them, but the temperature should be 350 degrees Fahrenheit / 176 degrees Celsius. Check in on them after about 15 minutes and use a toothpick to check if the inside of the cookies are ready. Consistently check until they are done on the outside and inside.
4. Melt your chocolates in the microwave using separate bowls and dip the bottom of the cookies in the dark chocolate and the top in the white chocolate and let cool.
You could also make some delicious caramel apples!

What you will need:
- 12 crisp apples
- 1 1/3 cup dark corn syrup
- 1 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoon butter
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Candy apple sticks
- Parchment paper

1. Put parchment paper on any size baking pan.
2. Push a candy apple stick into the core your apples.
3. Put the corn syrup, sugars, heavy cream and salt into a large saucepan and put it over medium-high heat. Simmer until it's about 270 degrees Fahrenheit / 132 degrees Celsius which takes around 15 minutes.
4. Take that off the heat once it has been 15 minutes/reached the temperature and stir in the butter and vanilla extract. Let this cool for 6-8 minutes until the caramel is at a thick consistency.
5. Dip in the apples to the caramel and spin slightly and put them on the baking pan. Let them cool completely before eating.
Optional: While the mixture is not fully cooled you could add things like nuts or other sweet treats to your apples!
One thing you can make are cute jack-o-lantern marshmallow pops!

What you will need:
- Marshmallows
- White chocolate
- Orange food coloring
- Sticks (not popsicle sticks but white sticks you would use for cake pops)
- Black frosting tube

1. Melt your white chocolate in the microwave until it is almost completely melted and good enough to stir. Add a few drops of the orange food dye and stir.
2. Stick your marshmallow through the stick, then take a butter knife and spread the orange chocolate all over the marshmallow. Continue this for however many marshmallows you want to make. Wait for them to be completely dry. You can speed this up by sticking them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
3. Take your black gel frosting tube and make a jack-o-lantern face on your marshmallow! Be creative with this. You can even add some spider webs or other fun things.
