Happy Halloween! Saturday Magazine #2 (by LoveIsALaserquest )

My Top Five Halloween Treats from My Childhood.

So Halloween is here and there are a lot of different
themed treats around for the occasion. This made me
think of the types of sweets (candy) that I got when trick
or treating when I was little. I thought I would share with
you my favourite sweets I use to get as a child! What's your favourite
Halloween treat? Be sure to let me know in the comments!

#1 Fun Size Chocolate bars:
I loved these, they were so cure and small and it was great because it
meant you had an excuse to eat more of them because of how small they were. I would still happily eat these today!

#2 Fruity Pops

Fruity pops were my favourites, especially the blackcurrant ones. And the ones that had sherbet in the middle. You wouldn't go trick or treating without getting one of these. I remember one year having more than five. I still eat these now though and they are just as amazing as they use to be.

#3 Chocolate eyeballs

These were brilliant but not because they were good. They were so bad they were good. They were made with the same chocolate they use in advent calendars but they tasted cool because they were eyeballs. I sometimes wish I could eat one because although they're bad, they're strangely good.

#4 Scream eggs:

Now I love these because it makes me feel like it's Easter all over again. Scream eggs are one of the nicest chocolates, in my opinion, and it's a pity we can't get them year round. This is why having these at Halloween makes me so happy. They taste great and are super cool, who doesn't love a scream egg with a green yolk?

#5 Fun gums:

Fun gums are amazing and I don't get to eat them often so it was always a treat to get them at Halloween. They have all sorts of different types and they were all really good. Anyone like the little strawberry tarts?
One of the reasons Halloween is one of the most loved holidays in parts of the world is because of the food associated with this holiday. You can't go through the season without hearing or seeing "pumpkin-flavored *insert food item here*" at some point. Some Halloween-inspired food items are tasty, yet there are some that are just plain weird or unappetizing. Let's go through some of these, shall we?

1. Orange Cream Flavored Milk

Technically, this is not a food item, but roll with it. For some reason, this beverage doesn't seem like it would have a horrible taste. Based on first impression one could assume it would have the same flavor as that of an orange cream lollipop. However, the fact that this is milk might make one skeptical.

2. Peanut Butter Cup Flavored Candy Corn

Many people cannot stand the taste of candy corn, originally. So, the thought of Peanut Butter Cup candy corn would further disgust those that dislike candy corn. Would the peanut butter cup taste be appealing with the texture of the candy?

3. Candy Corn Flavored Oreos

Candy corn and oreos together? At first glance, it does not seem to be the best combination. Who knows. These could possibly be appealing to those that like both oreos and candy corn.

4. Halloween Cereal

The ghost shaped cereal bits and packaging give off a cutesy type of halloween vibe. Yet the change of color in milk from white to green may be somewhat unsettling.

5. Pumpkin Spice and Cinnamon Sugar Flavored Chips

For those that like sweet and salty food items, this may be one to consider. Recently there's been production of a bunch of intriguing chip flavors corresponding with Halloween. It is hard to believe that a dessert-flavored chip would be as delicious as, for example, a french onion-flavored chip.

6. The Frappula Frappuccino

Another "food" item *wink wink*. The Frappula Frappuccino is a rarity only available a couple days of the year, which strikes a curiosity as to what exactly it contains. It definitely gives off a subtle, creepy vibe for a beverage if one can consider a beverage creepy.

7. The Halloween Whopper

This appears to be just a regular whopper, or burger with numerous toppings, that has had it's buns dyed black. Something about the blackness of the buns does not seem trustworthy. It's not natural, that's for sure.

Would you try any of these Halloween-inspired treats?
Deadmin's First Halloween

This year is the first year I get to hand out candy on Halloween. Now that may not sound fun to some people, but to me, I've been looking forward to it all year. Why? Because I don't enjoy parties but I do like decorating and seeing people smile, o you can imagine my delight when I took charge of things this year!

First I decorated the house. This was a few weeks back and I don't have a lot to work with, Not much sticks to anything I have by the front door, but I think it all looks pretty good. Even the weathering adds a neat touch!

The Candy

Next I went and I bought the candy. I wanted to buy things that I knew the majority of kids could eat so I bought some options that were gluten and soy free as well as nut free and dairy free. So, for my lovely trick-or-treaters, I bought: Fluffy Stuff Cotton Candy Pops, Pixie Sticks, Double Lollis and Creamy Caramels, plus soe cute little skull rings.  I also bought Kit-Kat, Caramilk, Aero, Smarties, Coffee Crisp, Starburst, Skittles Original and Skittles Sours.

The Costume

I didn't get very adventurous honestly, I have no idea what to do. Though, I did have a pair of black wings in my closet from grade nine and I have a cute black dress. So I decided I'd be a dark fairy.

I don't think I even have to worry much about my make up since a friend of mine bought be this beautiful mask. He said if I didn't wear it the kids would go running from my door screaming when they saw m face. How charming.
