Ladies! Come in!
Hehehe, had time to clean, didn't I? ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
My kitchen is spotless! But bam, it's Friday...and boy, my bones are aching. My muscles hurt. And I'm stressed out. And guess what?! I still have loads of work to do this weekend! I have a feeling that I'm not going to have time for a Sunday cup of tea or a small walk in the park on Saturday...I already had to decline three invitations to parties! Wowowie, this week has been stressful...
But you know, Mother Hen's "friend" Bertha has some simple tips for getting rid of stress. She wrote them on the back of the notecard and sent it to me along with a loaf of banana bread. So, I suppose I'm going to read them! Fingers crossed that they'll be useful...
One: Eat healthy! You know that old saying, "You are what you eat?". Well it's kind of true. When you put good, healthy things into your body, your body is going to thank you. Recent psychologists suggest that your body is all connected (well duh) and that, when you thank your body, your body will thank you. Before a stressful test, grab some nuts instead of some candy. Before going to bed, have an apple instead of that last slice of cake. Most importantly -- remember, you are what you eat, so eat good, healthy meals. Your brain will thank you for it.
Two: Stay positive! When a lot of people get stressed, they get negative. It's easy to do if you don't see an end to your work. Keeping positive will help you by making your mind healthy. Try to make a stressful environment by placing a snack (see number one) next to you while you work or some flowers at your desk. Make sure to sit down and actually do your work, even if that means getting off of VirtualPopstar! When you're stressed out, it's hard to stay positive...but when you're positive, it's easier to get work done and therefore get rid of the stress.
Three: Relax~In this day and age, we're always plugged in. And that makes it hard to go to sleep. Did you know that reading on your computer or tablet is proven to be more stressful than reading a book? This is so because when you read on your tablet, it keeps the mind awake and at a different wavelength then when you are just straight reading on paper. So next time you want to grab for your tablet to play some games before bed, think about picking up a book instead!
That also brings us to sleeping. Teenagers need a ton of sleep! And we aren't getting enough. It may seem like we don't need it -- we want to party and we also have to juggle homework and those parents of ours ... but if we get enough sleep, we'll have enough energy to continue through the day and actually get work done.
Four: Laugh!Yes! Laughter had to be on this list. You live longer when you laugh. Facial recognition queues say that if you smile, even when you're sad, your face will think you're happy. That's just how actors learn how to cry on queue -- they watch their faces when they are crying and mimic the motions.
Laughing can be by yourself or with your friends. Either way, just get out and relax and take a break. You deserve it. But remember, if you just play, you'll have a bunch of work to do at the last minute. And that will truly make you stressed out!
Five: Have a friend. This sort of is unsaid, but the more you can talk about something the better it'll make you feel. Especially if you're a hormonal teenager like some people I know...(COUGH SIX COUGH ( ´∀`)). If you have a confidant, a friend you can continually speak about your problems to, it'll be a lot better. You'll feel less stress as you've gotten it off of your chest. And your friend will thank you for sharing with them, as they'll feel special. Communication is key!
Six: uh....don't live in South Africa?
Yeah, uh, supposedly South Africa is the most stressful country in the world! Followed by the United States and Australia. So, if you want to live in an unstressed zone, just steer clear of South Africa. Why are they so stressed? Civil instability and legal issues. And we want to get away from those!
And lastly, remember the 8, 8, and 8 rule. It may not apply to most of you young teenagers out there, but it will apply to some of you adults and college students.
Eight hours of...Sleep.
And this means just straight sleep.
Eight hours of...Work.
School
Job
Chores
Eight hours of...Play.
Television
Eating
Hanging with friends
Going on VirtualPopstar
Surfing Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram
Playing Video Games
Listening to music and dancing wildly
Going out to crazy parties
Painting
Killing Mufasa
Digging
Granny gonna go dig a hole!
Just remember these simple tips and you will be stress free...hopefully. If only Mother Hen stopped going shopping instead of doing her work! Maybe I should dish advice when I can take it...
Well, hm. How do you deal with stress? Do you have a quiet place in your house, or a friend you like to rant to? Let me know in the comments!
See you ladies next week, maybe we'll bake something! Mmmm! ヘ(°ï¿¢°)ノ
