A Guide for Newbies (by NewsTeam )

Intro

Hey guys! We're back again with another article and today we have a guide for all you newbies out there. People are always asking questions about different things to do with VP so we thought we would create a guide that answers a lot of questions you may have.

Be sure to leave any other questions you have down below and we may answer them another time.

Hope you guys enjoy and thank you for reading :)

The News team, x
Help from LIALQ

Hey! Georgia again. I hope you're all doing well. Today I'm here to tell you a bit more about the teams and what they do. Since I'm on a lot of them I thought it would be the perfect thing for me to tell you all about.

Moderators

The moderators are here to help you with any problems you may have. We help to keep the forums a nice place that you will all be able to do. We will deal with any problems that occur and ensure that your life on VP is a-ok. You can mail them if you have a problem with your account, if someone has conned you when trading. Basically anything you need help with that is VP related they can help you. If you need to report a post, then you can use the report button that is located at the bottom of a post or if it's something not regarding a post then you can send a mail to an online moderator who will be happy to help you. Another few options are mailing the Modsquad account or checking the rule page to see if that can help you in any way.

How can you be a mod? Well to be a mod you need to apply when we hold applications. This doesn't happen very often at all so if you get the chance to, apply because it will be a long time before you get another chance.

I would also like to say thank you to the mods for all the hard work that they don on the site :)

 The News Team

We are the News team, and our job is to provide you with fun articles to read like this one. We write articles daily on all different subjects and try to offer you something different and interesting to read. We also have layouters that will create gorgeous layouts to make things look really nice for you all.

We hold applications every so often when we have team members who's real life has taken priority has left. So keep your eyes out, this usually happens a few times a year. Although hopefully it won't be happening again any time soon, we have a really strong team.

The Event Team

The event team is an awesome team that provides you with all sorts of fun events, games and competitions to take part in. The event team is also great because you can win some really awesome items from them and you can even win PD and credits. We hold all sorts of different events such as dress up competitions, game days, Man crush Monday and Woman Crush Wednesday and so, so much more. We also run events on special holidays to spread excitement. Keep your eyes out because they are always holding some awesome events.

Like the news team, the event team looks for new members whenever they need them so keep your eyes out, they have applications every so often.

Social Media Team

The social media help to promote VP on different forms of media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr. To help them to spread awareness of the pages they hold different events on their pages such as raffles, giveaways and riddles.

They don't hold applications too often so make sure to apply if you get the chance, you may be waiting a while if not.

YouTube Team

You know the cool YouTube videos you see at the bottom of the home page? They are there thanks to the YT team. They create and share videos on the homepage for us users to enjoy. They have recently got new members, so I'm really excited to see what they do.

Blogger Team

The blogger team is very similar to the news team. They create articles in their blogs for users to read. The cool thing is, is that you can subscribe to the people that you like and be notified when they create a new post.

Forum Team

The forum team is the newest addition to the team family and this is a great team because they work to get VP members communicating within the forums. They have a range of different topics to talk about such as Music Monday's, Foodie Friday's, Take A Trip With Me Thursday's and Fashion Tuesday's. Keep an eye out for the different forums that they make. I look forward to seeing what else they do in the future.

I hope that gives you some more insight to the teams and if you have any more questions feel free to ask below in the comments :)

Help from Hailee

Hey guys, Hailee here!

I hope you guys are all enjoying member appreciation week so far! I know we've been working hard to bring this excellent content for all of you! Today I’m here to share a few tips on how you can get fans, and fast! As some of you may know, there are different fan levels that you can reach in the game. As a new member, you start off as a bathroom singer and will have to work your way up, with the goal being to reach the highest level in the game! Luckily, VP has made it easy for you to earn fans, there are many different ways for you to do so!

http://en.virtualpopstar.com/layout/nl/images/spacer.gifOn your homepage, you will see a tab on the top that says fans(It is a little picture of a microphone). Once you click on that, there will be different options of things that you can do. On the right, there is a picture of all the different options that you can do! As you reach higher levels in the game, they will give out a higher payout of fans. I’ll be taking a look at some of my favourite things that I like to do to gain fans!

Take singing lessons/dance lessons: There is a small catch to this, you have to pay a small fee to take these ‘lessons.' When I say small fee, I do mean small, but you do get fans from this simple action. The best part about this is there is no limit as to how many times you do this during a day. You could potentially sit in front of your computer and just chill out on VP all day!

Performances: Keeping up with the theme of being a pop star, you can travel to different countries and give performances to earn fans. In each country, you can give a total of three performances in one day. Although, if you have a manager, you can perform up to six times in that country. Depending on what level you are, you will get a higher pay out of fans. To give a performance, it does not cost you anything, but there is a waiting time in between each performance.

Going on tour: Each day, you can start a tour. The purpose of this trip is to travel to 3 different countries and give a performance in each of them. Once you have completed the tour, you will get another sum of fans! If you have a manager, you can go on tour twice in the same day.

Release an album: This will cost you a bit of money, but you get a big pay out of fans at the end. Releasing an album will take seven days, and each day there is a task that you must perform. It is usually just taking singing lessons, or giving a performance in an individual country. The only downfall to this is if you miss one of the days you won’t get the money back!

Donations: You also have the option to donate money that you’ve earned on VP to get fans. You can only give once a day but by far such an easy way to get a bit of fans without having to go on tours, or giving performances!
Help from Sareureuk

Hello guys, Alexys here with a few tips regarding one of the main features of this site: the clothes!

First thing's first, you have your wardrobe where you can find all of the clothes which you possess. Now, with this layering system, things are a bit more tricky.
For example, you have created your look but →this← happens. How to avoid this? Simple. You use the →little buttons← above your avatar and click the upward button. Usually, three times is enough to get your hair over your shirt or dress. If you're also using a coat, you might need to click 4 times. And →there← it is! Looking pretty and neat

How to layer. Layering is of course fun. And once you find a good combination, all you need to do is click the arrows which are in the same box as your items to move them either on top of other items, or under certain items. Layering offers you limitless possibilities as long as you've got your imagination. There are also many users which have layering tutorials on how to get a certain look on their blogs so be sure to check them out or be on the lookout on users' avatars for new combinations which you can try. In my avatar, for example, I am using 2 hairs which I've layered and thus have made a completely 'new' one.I also have a couple of items from 'hats' layered. What I love to layer most, however, is my 'makeup' and 'jewelry.'

How to sell things. You have two possibilities of selling shown in the icons. One, you can sell your items back to VP (case in which the copy is deleted from the 'in game count') and you only get a fraction of what you've paid for the item (ie: if you paid 10 cr for a certain item, you'd only get 4 cr back). The next option is  this little icon here. This way you can sell it either in the MP or directly to a user (you can also sell it for pd/cr/pp your choice). Remember, if there is another user who is selling the same item in the MP but for a lower amount, their item will be bought first. Also, you cannot sell an item to a person directly, or cannot accept a sales offer if you're not a 'youtube star'.

How to avoid a 'mirror glitch'. There are always dress up competitions. You might not want to lose the outfit you currently have on in order to save the outfit you're putting together for the competition. But this will create the so-called mirror glitch, where every user will see their own avatar (or at least what they've last tried on, even if it was without saving it). To avoid this (and not ruin your current outfit) you can right click your avatar and click the option 'show image in new tab'. From there you simply save your avatar on your computer and upload it to an image hosting site like Imgur, Tinypic. You can even use Photobucket or Tumblr (I personally use Tumblr because I'm always on. I just post everything in a text post, save it in my drafts and copy it from there) this will ensure you don't have the mirror glitch and won't need to create your outfit all over again.
Help from Photosynthesis

Hey guys, Sarah here.

You know what I like to do? Post in forums. Posting in forums and making your own are great ways to communicate with people on a large scale basis on a wide variety of subjects. This is where people can get to know you and you can get to know them. I'm going to walk you through how to make a forum, and what category your topic should go under.

To create a forum post, click on the "Social" bubble along the top. Then go to "forum". This will take you to the category page. Pick one of the below categories you think your post would go under (links to the categories are available below as well).

General: Used for talking about anything that doesn't fit in any of the below categories.

News: Generally used for announcements from teams or mods.

Game: Used to talk about anything pertaining to Virtual Popstar.

Clothing: Used for talking about anything clothing related, like if you want to sell something, buy something, or post your design.

Competition: Used to hold competitions. Usually people will hold raffles, dress up comps, or "first to post" competitions to win various prizes.

Roleplaying: Used for any roleplaying you wish to do. Start your own, or maybe join an already existent one.

Search For Friends: Used for looking for friends and meeting new people.

Money: Used for looking for money, whether you are selling or buying credits, or looking for a donation.

Ideas: Used to post any ideas you may have to make VP better.

Music and Celebrities: Used for talking about Music and Celebrities. A fairly obvious one.

Bugs: Used to report any bugs or hiccups you are experiencing on VP

Once you have chosen your category, click "Create a new topic" located at the top right of the page. Here is the page for your new post. There are many different things you can do with your post. You can add pictures (using the "Insert image" icon. It looks like mountains), YouTube videos (The "Insert YouTube" icon. It looks like a play button), and even add links (using the "Link" icon). You can also play around with the format, by bolding, underlining, changing the colour and the position of the text. Don't forget to add a title, and make sure your title does not contain any profanity. If it does, it will be changed by a Moderator. Now hit the "create" button at the bottom of your page.

Once you have created your post, you can access it by going to grey box at the top left of your screen. If you click the little clock icon , you can see all the posts you have written, the ones you have written in, and the ones you have subscribed to.

How do you subscribe to a post? Click on the topic you want to subscribe to. All recent topics will we found on the front page. Then, to the right of the title there is a pair of binoculars . Click that. If you are subscribed to the post, the icon will have a red X beside it instead of the check

Remember to follow all rules when in the forums. The rules can be found Here.

And now you know how to make a forum post! Have fun, and I hoped this helped :)

As for the layering advice, Tezzica also created a cute layering tutorial recently.
