Rare Illustrated Harry Potter Books Sold At AuctionHarry Potter is a world known, well-loved book by J.K. Rowling. With over 450 million books sold, it's not wonder that when a rare illustrated Harry Potter book was put out on the market by J.K. Rowling, the bidding was high.
The book was a rare first edition copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It included annotations, notes and drawings done by J.K. Rowling. The references spread over 43 pages and include references to both the books and the movies. She talks about wands and quidditch, the popular Wizarding game in the Harry Potter world.
The bidding was done at a sale of annotated first edition books by 50 UK and Commonwealth writers. A bidding war raged on between two buyers, the winning price an outstanding £150,000. This falls under the £2 million dollars that bought a hand written copy of the side novel, "Tales of Beatle the Bard," which was sold at an action in 2007.
