 Report1000 Word Story Challenge
(I just remembered Persona made a thread challenging people to do this at one point so I'm going to post it)

The hallway was silent. My heart was beating so loud in my chest I swear it was echoing through the dark hall. I shifted uncomfortably on my feet. The dress that clung to my body in layers of fabric was heavy and sweat dripped down my forehead.

I looked around the hall. There were no doors lining the wine red walls. There were no windows with light seeping in. Only torches on metal holders hung on the walls, the flickering fire like causing mysterious shadows across the room. The floor was wooden and looked old, but made no creaking sound as when I moved. There was a long rug on top of it, with an intricate knitted design on it.

How did I get here? How did I, of all people in this confusing, underestimated world, end up in this spot, standing here where so many people dreamed? How did he fall in love with me? Just me, with black hair and empty sea grey eyes. I am nothing important- no, no my memories are falling beneath the fog of my mind again, let me correct myself- I was nothing important.

Until I was Chosen.

Not many people are Chosen. And even then, they are normally the best of the best. And yet I was. Just little old me, with my bottom-line education, my love of books, with my little money, my awful looks, my terrible temper and sarcasm and words as my only line of defense. There is to me, but I cannot recall my past life. I am not even supposed to remember these fall details, yet I cling to them. My life, as far as I can tell, was pathetic.

And yet I was Chosen. Chosen to be a Warrior. Chosen to protect my country and world at all costs.  Chosen to be blessed with the secret element of magic. Chosen. What a strange word that seems to have so little importance and yet was manipulated to have such a bigger meaning, a scary meaning.

The Chosen used to be good. Then again, so did the Council. So did the whole world. That was, until the Great Plague came followed closely by World War Three, or as the people of this broken world call it- Armageddon. And then the Council was formed- one top of each of the continents to make the decisions. Each head, called the Minister, having a small council called the Lower Council. They all used to have good in mind, to fix this world that was shattered in so many ways by their ancestors. But as almost everyone with power, their minds grew hungry for more and twisted to find the way to satisfy themselves.

The bells were tolling outside. I looked down at my dress. I already knew how I looked. I wore a grand dress of gold. It had long sleeves that ended in a long trail that brushed the floor. The neck was low, showing my cleavage in a way I feel I would not have found comfortable in my old life. The waist is tight, with a golden corset hurting my ribs. After the corset, the dress comes out in a big skirt with many layers of the sparkling fabric, the top layer a lace y fabric with flower designs. My shoes were small flats.

The last bell tolled and I looked down to the hall end, which was near. A double door shimmered to life there. It was glass and rimmed with wood. Outside, the blue sky was cloudless. I could hear the roar of the people. I took a deep breath. My world was about to change again- at least this time I didn't have to forget my past life in the process.

I picked up the folds of my skirt and began to walk down the hall. Each one of my footsteps seemed to echo in my ears but I knew they were silent. My ears were filled with the sound of my blood rushing and the crowd outside. Sunlight began to my dress and it shimmered like a thousand stars caught in the sunlight. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of how I must look, shimmering like a star.

I walked through the doors and they faded behind me. The balcony I stood on was five stories up from the ground. It was white and decorated with gold everywhere, from streamers to flowers dipped in gold paint. Cameras also peaked out of the decorations, trained on me. Five other people stood on the balcony, but a thousand more roared below. I knew TV screens would be hung up in every town and city, all eyes of the world trained on me.

The five people were very, very important. The first was Misty, my Lady in Waiting, my best friend. Then there was Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel, who smiled at me brightly. Then there was Lord Arie, who would wed me. And then there was the man I was to be wedded too. He stood there, shining in gold attire. His hair was black, his eyes a radiant green. I did not know my feelings for him, but I knew he had great ones for me and had asked to marry me with the hopes of this savage world on his shoulders.

I smiled at him and looked out to the people. Tall walls lined the big field in front of us, and though this city was glorious, I knew it was savage and wild beyond him. I hoped today the Rebels would not make their move.

I walked up to my darling prince, the son of the North American Minister, Mr Gabriel. I smiled at my prince, whose name I would only learn today, as he would learn mine.

Lord Aries cleared his throat as I stood in front of my prince and who smiled back eagerly. Gosh, he was beautiful with his high cheekbones and deep set eyes.

"Today is a day in history. Today is the day these two find each other. Today is a big step in the goal for peace. Today I wed these two, whose names are to be learned by each other. Our lovely bride, one of the Chosen, is Abigail Time. And our lovely groom- Hunter Lake."

"Abigail. What a lovely day to marry a girl named Abigail" said my prince, Hunter. I smiled- I liked the way he said my name.

"Hunter. What a lovely day to marry a boy named Hunter" I mocked back teasingly to him. But I spoke to soon, because that was when the bombs started to be dropped, the planes swooping closer and closer to the city. That was when all help broke loose.
