when I had my mom committed, I didn't realize til after I signed the papers they were gonna send the police, like, I put my signature down and the magistrate said, "the police will be at your house as soon as possible" and my heart just SUNK.

like, we got lucky that the officer leading that team actually had mentally ill family, and could handle the situation relatively well - but no matter how good they are at it, they're still a uniformed officer with a gun, and that can be absolutely terrifying to someone who's in a psychotic state.
(thankfully my mom was loopy and thought they were her friends, but it coulda gone so badly)

absolutely plus with cops comes them talking and hanging around and my parents were asleep and telling some dudes at the wrong house to fuck off was just the better option

meanwhile where I live, cops just like to hang around my street and run off homeless people.
which pisses me off, cuz when they're camping down here, the narcan van and mail carriers knows exactly where to find them, and every time the cops move them they gotta start all over
I dunno why camping is such a crime
