They’re usually served during the holidays 
or Sunday dinner.
There is a variation that includes

I definitely heard about them baked(?) with marshmallow! It always kind of set me back a bit, because I can't help but think who in their right mind started that, what a weird combination?? But then again we eat caramel on potatoes, so can I really judge? LMAO

Not sure if it's super common, but we add an almond, and whoever gets it in their bowl, receives a little prize, and then the winner buys the prize for next year. It's always fun sitting there with an almond in your mouth, pretending no one found the nut and then people start eating more dessert in hopes of getting it
