I don't care, spend all the money u want on there imo

if ur not able to buy somewhere else bc u can not afford expensive stuff from somewhere that has a more ethical way of working, then i dont really think u can be judged for finding whats cheaper and affordable for u
and anyways, at some point ppl get to put their money where they want
if u dont want to buy from amazon n have the resources -money- to buy somewhere else, then do it

i mean i literally can't judge capitalism because reasons and no i don't think you're a bad person if you support companies like amazon. i also don't think you're a bad person if your comsumption habits aren't sustainble... but i think those are things that everyone should think about and then make their decisions either to care or not to care
i haven't ever buy anything from amazon, but i'm sure i will someday because there's just some books that you can't find anywhere else. but i'll buy used ones if possible

no but i do think it's good if people are a bit aware of the fact that there are issues with most bigger companies and that they try to not only buy from amazon, wish and sites like that.

no there is no ethical consumption under late stage capitalism

Agree, but that shouldn't excuse actively buying from large unethical companies.
I grew up poor, always have been and still am, I have bought from Amazon, aliexpress and etc. before, but it's not something I do often, as I understand the poor, actually horrible conditions the people making the items live, and work under. Do I still sometimes buy from said websites? Yes, but it's something I do when there aren't any other options for ethical, but still affordable products.

There's a difference between actively consuming unethical products, even when you're able to shop ethically, and sometimes having to buy unethical products because you simply cannot afford otherwise.

but saying this I almost never actually order from amazon since I pretty much never have money

It all comes down to privilegde, not everyone is privilegded enough to be able to buy sustainably, and that isn't their fault. Judging someone on whether or not they buy from fast fashion websites, is extremely classist in most cases.

Especially with the recent gentrification of charity shops, a lot of the people who depended on charity shops can't afford those anymore, and then stores like SHEIN can be one of their only options.

sorry im just ranting at this point lmao

no lol
buying more sustainable products sends a message that there's a market for that, but a lot of the time the "sustainable" or "organic" stuff isn't that and can have just as big of a negative impact on people or environment. how many of those "product made from plastic collected from the ocean" actually are 100% that? most of the plastic garbage from the oceans is unuseable and unrecyclable

point is: you're not responsible for the destruction of the planet lol try to live as best you can and dont waste ur money on scams

yeah i think it's dangerous that the focus has shifted from the companies to the consumer in that sense, but i do think it's pretty obvious that it might be a better choice to buy something that hasn't travelled over half the globe to get to you for example. now, companies do try to trick sometimes by saying that a product was "made" somewhere, but the pieces that were used to build that product were transported a long way, so that's somehow hard to keep track on in general i guess. but, locally made and sold things are a very good thing to buy from time to time if u can, is what i'm saying i guess. supports smaller companies and hasn't had a big negative impact on the environment through travelling etc

I wouldn't go so far to say that like the whole concept of sustainability came from consumers desires, there is no doubt that people born poor will be forced to say poor or that the largest polluters aren't regular consumers but doing a little better is far better then nothing

I only ever bought one thing off amazon and it was because the original company's site doesn't ship to Israel. I wouldn't buy off amazon if I had the choice, shipping is far too expensive. There is some stuff I want to buy that I can only find on amazon, like old niche knitting books, shit like that, that I would absolutely buy somewhere else had I had the choice. So yeah, I don't think most people who buy off amazon are bad, sometimes it's just the only option. I'm not the one not paying taxes, you know?
