You can't disqualify people because they got a warning. You have to judge them on their skills of hosting events, since thst is what you are supposed to do in the team of events. 
If this were moderator applications, I'd fully agree with you that you disqualified people because of their behaviour, but I, as an active member of VP, haven't seen the people in the second round not behaving good. If no one in the team was a mod, no one would have had know. about anyone getting a warning or time-out. There is a difference between being a moderator who has to protect the users and behave 100% perfect, and a team of people hosting fun events.

I have no idea what happened. But I can understand not progressing for a warning. Team members "represent" the site just like mods too. 
There's a difference between getting a warning because of, let's say as an example, giving away a hint of where a code is, and bullying people and telling things about their mother.
The first one is, in my opinion, stil acceptable, since not everyone could know that a team made a new rule regarding hints about codes.
The second is not acceptable. 
I'd say the first isn't a big deal, since it's a brand new thing and not everyone may know yet. But idk what happened so I can't judge.
