DIY: Deathly Hallows Necklace! (by Account deleted)

Hello everyone! Today I decided to show you guys how I made my very own Deathly Hallows Necklace.

If you're a huge Harry Potter fan, then this DIY is just for you.

The Fimo clay (oven bake clay) I used to create the actual charm takes 30 minutes in the oven at 180oC/250oF. Do not exceed this time limit neither the temperature of the oven or else you could burn it. Please make sure you have an adult to assist you with the oven part just to prevent any mishaps!

All the pictures in this tutorial have been taken by me EXCEPT for the oven. Our oven is filthy and I could not afford to take a picture of it. I apologise for the terrible lighting, angles and for just being the worst camerawoman ever!

In order to create this cool addition to your coolness collection, you will need the following things:
  • FIMO clay/Oven Bake Clay
  • Scalpel
  • Paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Pointy pencil or pen
  • Steady hands and precision!

Step 1: Slice off some of your oven bake clay. Roll it into a ball to make it easier to work with.

Step 2: You need enough clay in order to create a 1cm thick,  roughly 4 cm in length shape. Flatten out your ball by using your hands, something with a rounded side, or a rolling pin.

Step 3: Cut out a triangle using your scalpel from the flattened clay. You should have each side of the triangle being approximately 4cm long. Do this again inside the triangle but cutting out a smaller triangle. Remove the smaller triangle and you should have a triangle outline. This is your invisibility cloak!

Step 4: Create a thin 4cm long strip of clay and place it in the middle of the triangle. using the side without the blade of your scalpel, press down the loose ends of the strip and merge it with the triangle to keep everything in place. This is the Elder Wand! After that, using another strip of clay, wrap it around your finger to create a circle. Place this on top of the Elder Wand of your sign and, again, mould it into shape. This is the Resurrection stone. When you finally have your Deathly Hallows sign, poke a hole in the top corner

Step 5: Now place your little Deathly Hallows signs on a baking tray and leave it in the oven for no longer than 30 minutes for 180oC/250oF. Let it cool for about 5-10 minutes.

Step 6: Once cooled, paint it whatever colour you like. I painted mine gold, and added silver highlights for that extra glow.

Step 6: Thread a wire or a piece of string to create a hoop. You can paint it to match the charm. Once this hoop is created, grab an old necklace chain without the pendant, and thread it through the hoop. Once thats done, you have your very own, Deathly Hallows necklace!

I personally love this necklace because its just so cute and easy to make. If you happen to make it, please post a picture in the comments section below! Good luck!
