Into Indie Games and beautiful artwork? Heck, even if you’re not into real hardcore video games, you’ll love Child of Light. This beautiful role-playing platform style work of art that is based off your typical fairytales introduces you to Aurora whom is taken from her castle and in order to return her safely home, she must complete the quest of getting the sun, moon, and stars back from the Queen of the Night. You and the Princess will play in the magical city of Lemuria, where you’ll find an array of side quests and where you'll meet plenty of characters who will join you on your ten-chapter journey. The game is set up in a timeline battle system like Final Fantasy which allows you to level up and use a trait tree to help upgrade your powers, magic, and HP. Not only is this game addicting because of it’s glorious story line, the hand-drawn and water painted scenery is enough on it’s own. The game is only fifteen American dollars and is available on Windows, PlayStation, Wii U, and xBox One. 5/5 Stars easily. Great job Ubisoft! I highly encourage looking into the game and if nothing else, watching some walkthroughs on Youtube!
Another game that I have to mention is Don’t Starve. This game is an indie/survival based game which sets you as a Tim Burton style character with endless game play. This game is a free-roam and gives you a plentiful variety of tools and survival tools to create with the surrounding earth that you can harvest. The goal is pretty easy: Don’t starve and don’t get attacked by the nighttime creepers that lurk. You could easily survive a thousand days by keeping a fire going and a constant supply of bunnies to eat, but that’s just boring.. You never actually win this game; you only get a little bit better every time, so you might as well have some fun with it. The game is stupidly addicting; I’ve spent 53 hours on it… I’ve had it for less than two months. On top of that, if you buy the game on Steam, you have to option of downloading modifications, new worlds, and characters all from the Workshop which are made from fellow Don’t Starve-ers. This game is available on all computers, PlayStation, and I believe xBox. This game may sound boring but with all of the endless possibilities of base camps, playing new characters, items to build, and the never ending need to beat your own personal best, it’s yet to get boring. It’s definitely another game to look into if you want something without a storyline and if you’re into survival. Even if you’re not, I’d check it out! I didn’t think I’d like it either but I’m hooked!
