Hey guys! By the time you guys read this, I'll be on my way to a week-long vacation. I won't lie, planning a vacation, isn't an easy process. It was stressful, my friend has made me angry multiple times (that is a completely different story), but in the end, it'll be worth it! All things considered, I'm going to share a few of the tips I have been using to make sure that I get everything done in time! Let me know if you guys use these tips, or even have your own tips you'd like to share!
Enjoy xx :)
TIP #1: MAKE A LIST!
The amount of lists that I made were crazy! I pretty much had a list for everything, from basic lists, down to detailed ones. When planning your packing, check the weather a few days before, and pack accordingly! (Don't bring sweatpants if it's going to be hot and vice-versa). Also, keep track of your lists, and try not to repeat items on lists, so you don't over-pack. I think I spent more time making the lists look pretty, and didn't focus on packing!
TIP #2: MAKE YOUR OWN FOOD/BRING A LUNCH!
You'd be surprised at how helpful this is. I'm already going to be spending a fortune on this trip that I figured I would cut corners whenever I could! The night before, I put a few small snacks into a cooler and made sure to put in ice packs in the morning. I packed a lunch for my friend and me; we avoided the high prices at highway stops. And we also saved a little time by not having to stop as much and were still eating healthier. My suggestion is a simple sandwich, and a few fruits and veggies that will keep when you are in the car. *Please Note* My friend WAS NOT eating as we drove, as that is super dangerous!
TIP #3: ROLL YOUR CLOTHES TO SAVE SPACE!
Okay guys! I really didn't think this was going to work, but let me tell you. I was able to save up so much space and pack a few extra things ;) I usually just throw everything into my bag, so this was a huge shock to me. Another great way to save on room is to use vacuum sealed bags to contain your things. Just make sure your luggage bag will be able to fit the sealed bag afterwards!
TIP #4: USE SMALLER BAGS TO CONTAIN YOUR ITEMS!
When I was packing, I went out and bought a bunch of smaller bags to put things in. Now, I know this may sound slightly crazy, because why would I want more bags? So this is just to help organize things and make sure they are all contained. You can throw in anything into these bags and just stack them into your suitcase and leave. (It also makes for a very Instagram-worthy picture). Also, make sure to use the small pockets on the side of your carry-on that no one uses! I found those small pockets so helpful to randomly put in a few things on the day that I left!
