Hello everyone! I hope you have been enjoying a fabulous week these past few days! Onto the news!
French Protest! Same-sex Marriage still an issue?
Over in Paris in France tens of thousands of people have rallied up against a new French law allowing same-sex marriage. Police estimated that around 150,000 people joined the protest that marched over on the city centre however organisers claim nearly one million had arrived to complain about the new law. Many were uncooperative and caused issues among the capital, the authorities said nearly 100 people were arrested for unruly behaviour. The same sex marriage bill - which included the legalisation of adoption for gay couples - was signed last week (if you remember me mentioning this in my last article) by president Francois Hollande after months of heated debate. Many people have been divided over the issue, so much so that a 'far-right' historian shot himself dead in Notre Dame cathedral, leaving a message in which he denounced gay marriage.
Over in Texas Flash Flooding!
Flash floods brought on by a horrible downpour of rain in San Antonio, Texas had left hundreds of residents and drivers stranded by the waters. A woman who ended up trapped by the water while drying managed to get onto the roof of her car, sadly was swept away by the currents. Her body was found near a fence caught up in the currents. A bus was rescued by fire-fighters on an inflatable boat after it had been trapped, thankfully the passengers were rescued along with the driver safely. Rescue teams told the reporters they are continuing the search for anyone who might be stranded, along with two known missing people one of which a young teenage boy.
