Profiles
Profiles are one important part of VirtualPopstar. In them we can tell who we are and what we like. We describe ourselves in them. It's a fun way to express yourself!
I think we've all seen more than one thread asking how to make HMTL profiles- the ones with the scroll textboxes! Today, I'm going to teach you the most common way to do it!
Step 1:
You need a background image. This background image can be anything you want, but it MUST be 700px wide. If it's larger, it's too large for the profile, and if it's smaller, it's too small for the profile and looks a bit funny. Also, when you add the text boxes, if it's bigger than 700px the image will resize to fit in the profile but the text boxes won't! They will stay however many pixels over they were originally meant to be, out of line where you wanted them to be! Try not to use a photo that is copyright- you don't want to be getting in trouble!
Step 2:
Find a photo editor, preferably one where you can make boxes or circles on. Those boxes are circles will be where we put the text boxes, and it's nice to organize them. You can also edit your photo's color, sharpness and add a filter.
A few examples of photo editors:
· http://www.sumopaint.com (scroll down and us the free version!)
· You can also use Photoshop and the Photoshop-like program, GIMP. GIMP is free, while Photoshop costs money.
Step 3:
Go to a photo-uploader site to get a URL for your photo. Here are some commonly used ones:
Step 4:
Go here: http://neotacular.com/?go=x-blog
Put the URL in the designated area and click "Go!"
This will take you to a new page. Click where you want the first corner of your first, let go of the button, and then click in the diagonal corner. Do not drag the mouse- it doesn't work that way. When you do that you do that to all your text boxes, click "get the code!"
Step 5: When you copy and the code, go to edit your profile. Delete everything inside. Go to the little "HTML" box beside the place where you insert pictures. In there, paste your code and click "okay." You can save your profile and then go back to fill in the text boxes.
