Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury (His born name was (Farrokh Bulsara) was a British musician. He was a singer and a songwriter. He was born on September 5, 1946. The 20th anniversary of his death is coming up on November 24. He died exactly twenty years ago on that day. Freddie Mercury is known for h is astounding musical talents. He has had many singles such as “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “Somebody to Love”, and “Don’t Stop Me Know”. He is known for many other songs as well.

Freddie Mercury grew up in Zanzibar. Both of his parents are Persian, which of course makes Freddie Persian. Freddie’s father was a civil servant, a civil servant is someone who is a member of civil service. Freddie also had a sister, her name was Kashmira who was born in 1952. When Freddie was eight years old he was sent to a boarding school in a town called Panchgani. While Freddie was there he played two different sports, there was mainly two different sports that he was actually interested in. Those two sports were cricket and long distance running. When he was ten years old he won an award in playing Table Tennis. So really he had more than one different interest in sports.

When Freddie was 12 years old he realized he had more interests than just sports. He was a trophy that showed he was interested in art. Many people at Freddie’s school realized that he had an extraordinary talent for music. He joined the school choir. When five of Freddie’s friends made a rock n’ roll band Freddie joined the band, it was called the Hectics. They played at school events and other events that were available at that school. No one knows much more about that band. Freddie Mercury finished school in 1962. He went home to Zanzibar and spent time with his family. He was driven out of his country and migrated to England.

Freddie eventually enrolled in College in England. He studied very hard. He graduated his college in June of 1969. He had gotten a diploma in Graphic Design and regular design. He moved into a flat with his friend, and started selling artwork and clothing. But, in the summer of 1969 he met the band called Ibex. He traveled with the band for a while. But, that did not last too long. He was searching for a new band to join. He found a band called, “Sour Milk Sea”. He was offered the position, and he accepted the position. He became the lead singer of the band. The band had broken up, because Freddie and Chris (two band mates) had become close. They had felt threatened. Freddie decided to join another band called, “Smile”. Which he changed the name of the band to Queen.

Freddie’s musical career was and still is a huge one. The band Queen includes of Brian May who played the guitar, Roger Taylor who played the drums, John Deacon who played the bass guitar, and him who was the lead singer. One of Freddie’s and his band’s best performance was at the Wembly Stadium, it was sold out to more than 72,000 people. Queen was placed in the top 30 for many months. Queen has had 11 albums. Around 1987 Queen took a break and Freddie went solo for a while. He had two projects that included albums. After that, Freddie found out he had had aids.

Freddie Mercury died on November 24, 1991. He died from a disease called bronchopneumonia it was brought on by Aids. He died that day after he told the public about the disease. He died at his home in London. On April 20, 1992 there was a concert held in memorial for Freddie Mercury. There was a tribute album made for him called, “Made in Heaven”, which was made from three members of his former band Queen. It was a CD compiled of Freddie’s songs.

Book and Movie Reviews!

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks (Book/Movie):
This is one of my favorite books. It is about a marine, Logan Thibault, who finds a picture that ends up being a good luck charm saving him from many bombings at war. When he is done with his rotation he goes to South Carolina to find the mysterious girl on the picture.

The movie stars Zac Efron and Taylor Schilling. They are marvelous actors that take the story of the two lovebirds to new heights.

It shows us that fate does exist, doesn't it?
