Well, my name is Helmi and I'm from Sweden (so I'm sorry if my English isn't perfect haha). I'm a proud mother of two kitties, Vilma and Vlad and I love them more than anything in the world :3 I don't really know what to say but I love art and learning new and different art forms. Besides designing I like creating photos in Second life and creating both digital and traditional art. Currently, I'm trying to learn how to do 3D stuff, when I get older I want to become an animator! My favorite thing to draw is portraits. I think the human anatomy is really interesting. Between being in school and practicing art I don't really have any energy left to do other stuff.
- Why do you want to become an animator?
Well at first I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I love coding, art as well as game development. Animating seemed like a good mix between it all. It’s hard to earn money as just a traditional artist but as an animator, you can get a proper job. It also seems so fun! Whenever I watch an animated movie I always find myself focusing more on how it's animated instead of caring about the actual storyline. My favorite animated movies are Zootopia and Vaiana, they are so beautifully made.
- What with digital art interest you?
There are so many possibilities with what you can make! I love making traditional art as well but when it’s digital you can make it look however you want, and the process can get much quicker by using short cuts.
- Why/How did you start designing for VP?
As I already mentioned I love art. I think it started with me trying to learn how to do digital art and then finding VP. I don't remember the exact reason why I started doing it but I'm happy I did.
- How long do you approximately spend on designing one set?
I try not to spend too much time on them. If I don't have anything else to do it can take only 3 hours to complete a whole set, but usually, I make half of the set and then continue a few days later when I feel motivated.
- How long do you spend on designing on a weekly/monthly basis?
I actually have no idea... If I have to guess I would say maybe 6 hours a week?
- Do you have a set that means something special to you or that had a special story behind it when you created it? Can you tell us why / what that story is?
I would say this set. When I made this set I tried to use the pixel brush more and tried really hard to make a proper skin. At the time I was excited about how it turned out and I learned a lot from doing it.
- Where do you get your inspiration?
Mostly from pictures I find on Pinterest and style icons I like on Instagram. I have a bunch of pictures saved that inspire me.
- Show us your first design and your latest design!
Sadly I don't have my first design saved, which I'm a little happy about since it was so bad lol. This is the second design I ever made. I'm a little embarrassed that it's in-game...
And this is my most recent one!
- What program do you use for designing? And do you use a mouse or a drawing tablet?
I use Krita! It's a free program and I basically use it for all of my digital art and editing. I have seen some other designers on here talking bad about it and I don't really get why. For drawing, I use a small Wacom Bamboo tablet that my mom bought for me on Facebook marketplace a few years ago. One day I wish I could afford one of those big fancy tablets with a screen.
- Do you wish to be a badged designer in the future?
I would love to be! I don't really know the requirements for it or what you have to do when you have it but having the badge would make me feel badass lmao at you want to share)
