The Teams of VP | YouTube Team (by Private)

In this article series, we have gone through and interviewed all the teams on Virtualpopstar and now we have reached the last and finale team of this series, the Youtube Team. The purpose of this team is to promote the site itself through Youtube  as well as entertain the members of VP with different kind of content such as lookbooks, how to design videos, baking videos and so on. The current members in YT are Chlorine, Vissy and WRENCH. You can find their channel if you click here. In this last article of the teams of VP series we have got to interview Vissy and WRENCH about the YoutubeTeam team and this is how they responded.

What is your role in the team?

My position in the team is vlogger.

How long have you been a member of YT?

I've been part of the team since November 2018.

What’s the purpose of the team?

Our purpose is to make videos for the users to enjoy and also hopefully make any outsider interested in the site if they ever stumble upon our videos.

What does the making of a video look like?

Me standing in front of my camera being like wtf am I supposed to say as I don't usually script my videos so it be like me thinking on the spot it all. Also I used to not have a tripod before so I just stacked my vhs tape cases into a tower and put my camera on top of it. Fun times.

How much time do you usually spend on a video?

A few days if I also edit it myself, if an editor edits it for me it takes me less to do my part.

What are the requirements of this team?

Being interested in making videos and making them regularly, 1 video every second month. I know we have been pretty much nonexistent for a while but we are working on it.

Anything else you would like to share? Something behind the scenes that maybe not that many people is aware of?

Well I was surprised to find out some people (my friends, you know who you are)  didn't even know  was in the team and I was like what really???

Also we don't have just make VP related videos if that's what people think and don't wanna be part of the team cause of it. So like if ya even have a small interest I would suggest applying when we hopefully have applications next time.

What is your role in the team?

I'm an editor on the team.

How long have you been a member of YT?

Since 9th of October 2015

What's the purpose of the team?

The purpose of our team is to entertain and promote VP. We make videos such as designing tutorials, look books, vlogs, other tutorials. Sometimes we make teasers and trailers for major events on VP e.g the mermaid event a few years back and the pride event. we've hosted hunts on our channel with themed videos (see Easter this year)

What does the making of a video look like?

I think the process of making a video is different for each member.

I personally first try and come up with an idea for a video. Let's take my pride look book for example.

First I come up with a theme for it. June was pride month, so I decided to make a look book with outfits inspired by the different flags. First i set up a thread on VP, asking for looks from the users of VP. Once i have collected enough looks I sort them into groups for different composite shots. For the look book i sorted them according to flags their outfits is based off. When I have the outfits sorted I know about how many composite shots are needed for the looks and then i go looking for stock videos and photos to use in between each shot.

For the pride look book I decided to go for pride related videos and pictures. The websites I mainly use for stock photos and videos are Pixabay.com and Pexels.com. For music I mainly use Bensounds.com. If I can I include quotes and other fun stuff in-between as transitions.

The transitions and clips in-between are also made into composite shots for easier editing. Which also makes adding text and effects to each stock clip easier since it's easier to control where it starts and where it ends.

Everything is put into a timeline and edited into the video with transitions, composite shots and the music and effects to then be rendered and then uploaded to YouTube!

During the process of editing i sometimes get stuck or can't choose between two effects, to which i may ask my team for help or feedback.

I typically follow this process in most of my videos, with stock clips and pictures with text on them.

How much time do you usually spend on making a video?

It depends. Sometimes I spend two week or more sometimes I spend a whole day on a video depending on how I'm doing IRL and how motivated I am.

Taking the pride look book for example again it took me about a week to do. Mainly because I wanted it to be as good as possible and that I had some stuff going on IRL.

But yeah. Two weeks to a day approx.

What are the requirements of this team?

The requirements is that you're an active member and a creative person. As well as that you know at the very least simple editing in a video editing program of your choosing. I use Hitfilm which is a free program ;)

Anything else you would like to share? Something behind the scenes that maybe not that many people is aware of?

Nothing that I can think of atm. However, I'm willing to answer any questions you may have!

Stupid me never kept track and now I'm sad this series is over

One of the best I've ever seen on VP, kudos to all those that helped and planned it and came up with it. It really show the different works here on VP and helps getting a better understanding of why people choose to do said work.
So, as a final word from me regarding all the parts of this series: This was a mad project, amazing work and I am certain it helped many regular users understand what the teams are here for, what their work entails and why teamers in general seem so affection-starved on this site. (Not like we get appreciation from anyone official, so we kinda have to pester normal users for it...)
Huge shoutout to everyone who spares even just 5 minutes per day to help make our lives on VP more fun and bright. You are appreciated, your work is appreciated and without you, this site would be literally an eternal dumpsterfire. Thanks for all of it! ♥

Thank you so much !
And dark mode is the way to go (;
