Staying Healthy and Active! (by CANDICE )

  • (Sorry again for no layout, my computer is still broken)

    So everyone has hobbies, right? Some like to run, some like to draw. Everyone is different. But you will often come across people who don't like to do things physically! It is often different when you have done it your whole life, you get used to it and more in shape with it. Others may drift apart from it.

    I have researched about being healthy, body shapes and things that can get you into exercise!

    Healthy Diets

    Of course, everyone knows that the right food keeps us in the right shape! But what type of food do we need?

    ♥ Calcium - Calcium is good for your bones! It keeps you strong, it helps to have a glass of milk once a day, and eat food such as yoghurt or cheese!
    ♥ Fruit - Fruit is very important to regulate your digestive system. It also acts as a natural laxative. It is important in helping your body get rid of wastes. Fruit can also prevent diseases and getting sick!
    ♥ Meat - Meat is a very important source of Protein and can contain Iron and Vitamins. Iron is necessary for building and repairing red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. If you are vegetarian, you can easily buy some Iron tablets from your local pharmacy.

    When you eat, you want to have a balanced diet! Even if somebody looks skinny but eats junk food, they can have a lot of fat around their digestive system.






    Body Shapes

    Everyone has a different body, but how are you supposed to go by the internet if you don't know what suits you?
    There are three different types of body types!

    ♥ Ectomorph
    An Ectomorph usually has a very light build. They are quite skinny and find it hard to gain weight, with a fast metabolism. They tend to be flat chested and have small shoulders. Workouts should be short, and focusing on big muscle groups. They should eat before bed to prevent muscle catabolism during the night. Supplements can be helpful. (Vitamins, Minerals etc)

    ♥ Mesomorph
    A Mesomorph has more of a rectangular shaped body, and tends to put on weight a little easier than an Ectomorph. They can also gain muscle easily and generally athletic. Weight training is best for a Mesomorph, Cardio is also good.

    ♥ Endomorph
    An Endomorph has a more stocky build and generally short. They can also gain fat and muscle easily. Muscles aren't as well defined and it is harder to loose weight for them. A lot of Cardio exercise is quite helpful for them, and supplements aren't generally needed, unless they have a low intake of protein in their diet.









    Hobbies
    Many people find exercise a boring/hard/painful thing to do! Including me! But there are many many ways to make exercise fun. As cheesy as it sounds, it's true!

    Dancing
    Why not start dancing? There are many dance schools around, you could join one for one class a week! Maybe start off with something less pressuring, like hip-hop. Then if you get into it you can start Jazz or Ballet! It can be very fun when you practice and perform.

    Sport
    Why not try a new, fun sport. When the day comes to sign up for new sports at school, put your name forward for something creative! Like volleyball, or rock climbing. You never know until you try it, maybe get some friends to try with you!

    Circo Arts
    As odd as this sounds, I did this a lot when I was younger. I could juggle, hula hoop and use the trapeze! It isn't anything competitive, and very fun! Just look around for classes to learn more circus skills.
