Nenna Kind Cancer Support (by LoveIsALaserquest )

Hi guys I'm going to tell you about something that is very close to my heart, The Nenna kind cancer support Centre.

The Nenna kind cancer support centre was set up a few years ago by my grandparents. My aunty Helen (or Nen as I called her) had suffered from cancer and she had fought it but sadly it returned and this time it was terminal.  Helen asked her parents (my grandparents) if they would set up a charity to support people in the same situation as she was and to also support their families as she was leaving behind two sons. Sadly in January 2011 she passed away. After her death my grandparents did as she asked and the Nenna kind cancer support centre was set up. They have helped a lot of people with what they do and they often do events to raise money.

Helen's son did  a sponsored walk a few years ago to raise money for nenna kind and also Helen's brother in law did a sponsored bike ride form one end of the country to the other. The charity has a lot of volunteers and has made a big difference to many peoples life's.

In 2010 Helen asked her brothers (my dad and Uncle) to make a recording of them both singing the impossible dream by Andy Williams. The song was originally just meant to be played for Helen's funeral but they ended up selling copies at the centre, at the Tesco's where Helen worked before she died and they sold a good number of copies.

The centre is still running and it's doing very well, they hold regular events for people who are affected by the awful disease and  offer a nice environment fro people to come to if they need someone to talk to.

The name Nenna kind came from to people. Me and a little girl who attended the preschool that Helen worked at. Nenna came from me, when I was little I couldn't say the word Helen so I called her Nen or Nenna and from then on to me she was known as Aunty Nen. Helen worked at a Preschool for many years and there was little girl who thought that her last name was Kind. Everyone thought it was sweet and it ended up becoming part of the name for the centre.

I wanted to tell you all about this because I think it is a story worth hearing, the Nenna kind cancer support centre is very close to my heart and I wanted you all to see just a little bit of what they do. Thank you for reading guys if you want to know anything more about the Nenna kind cancer support centre then feel free to send me a mail.
