Think About It (by Cosmos )

Have you ever really thought about space and how the universe really works?

It's quite incredible actually. We are all living somewhere on Earth. Doesn't it seem like you live in such a big world? From where you are, you probably don't even know what's on the other side of Earth, but that's because Earth is so big and we are so small. But, here's the thing, as large as Earth may seem, it's just a small little part of the solar system. And that solar system is just a tiny little speck in the Milky Way galaxy. But it doesn't just end here, the Milky Way Galaxy is just one of billions and billions of galaxies that make up the universe!

The universe is so big, in fact that most of it is unknown to us. We don't really know what's out there. There could be millions of other planets in the Milky Way or other galaxies where life exist, but the thing is, we don't know. The possibility is endless! The universe is just a large mass of empty space, sure there are a lot of things out there, but everything is really far apart. Some galaxies are millions of light years away!

A light year is the distance light travels in one year, saying as light travels pretty fast, that's really far away. It's all just amazing how everything is always moving further and further apart. But not only that, billions of stars somewhere in the universe die everyday, but billions are born each day in nebulas as well. So many things is happening out there that we probably don't even know about. And the best part yet is that all of this has been happening fir billions of years, way before the age of dinosaurs, and I use to think that was long ago too.

No one can ever really be sure about how the universe is really started, one theory however is the Big Bang Theory (where you can learn more about in one of the links below). But the Big Bang Theory is only one of many magnificent theories about the universe. The theory of dark flow is also another interesting theory, so be sure to check out the links below for more interesting articles.

There's so much more that can be learn out there in space, so many mysteries that even scientist don't know about. So anything could still be possible, somewhere out there, pigs might be able to fly and there might be a planet made of diamonds, you never know because there's so many possibilities, some that scientists just might not have discovered yet. This is why I love science, particular astronomy.

Yes and it amazes me. This was a wonderful article and super well put together, great things to know about the universe!

Well not really that ironic since I love space and that is why I choose the username Cosmos, but also because cosmos are my favorite flowers. ;)
