Nice you're reading this article. Today it's Easter in Europe. Here in the Netherlands we've got two Easter days. Both of the days every shop is closed and also every school is closed. I guess you guys have that as well during holidays like Easter.
First I wanted to talk about the christian story behind Easter, but I think everyone already knows it. I'm a christian myself and it's on of the most important days in the christian religion. That's because Jesus died on the cross. That's the way how He could forgive all of our sins. So Easter is kind of important for me.
This morning I was at my church, after four months. I had no energy back then and now I do have enough energy again. So this morning I was there, at my church. At the beginning it was nice, but then things happened. I started to realize certain things. Immediately at the beginning of the service the man, who started the service, started singing. His voice wasn't the best of all, so people behind me and next to me were talking about it. One woman said to me: "I'm glad it's over. It wasn't that good without musical guidance." I thought: "The guy is singing spontanious, how could you talk like that?"
Why I'm telling this, instead of history or telling about eggs, or showing a DIY? That's because Easter isn't only a church thing. It's also a family holiday. It's also about being together. It's about respecting each other, doing things for each other and the most important of all: forgiving each other. When this woman said that to me, I felt bad, but I shouldn't judge her as a woman. And people have bullied me for years. I never knew how to handle it. My parents didn't tell me how. They don't know. They never have answers to me. I need to forgive my parents every day, for everything they do to each other. For everything they did to me and do to me. But I still love them.
How do you think about Easter? Is it just a holiday for you, or do you also think about something or someone special in your life? Or maybe you celebrate it just like I did in church. Please leave it in a comment.
