As you may know, designer appreciation is a section that have been done by NT before, but since there are so many amazing designers, both badged and not, on vp that have yet to be interviewed, we decided that this would be a fun favourite to bring back. Many of us are here on vp to play dress up and get creative with our outfits, and this would not have been possible without the beautiful sets and items the designers create for us. So, thank you to all who design for being so talented and for sharing your work with us. You are very appreciated!
For this first interview, I've been so lucky to be able to interview one of our long-time designers, Eifos!
↣ Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Yes, of course! I'm 26 years old and from Denmark, and I like to do a big variety of creative stuff. At the moment I spend a lot of time building in the Sims, and lately I have started to draw more traditional art. In periods I have also worked on cosplays, and drawn digitally. As I joined the YT team a short while ago, I also started doing more video related stuff.
↣ What made you want to start making YouTube design tutorials?
I don’t really remember, I kinda started on it first on gSm. I guess I just like to be 'useful' to the site and give something back, and I love to see others getting creative!
↣ Why/How did you start designing for VP?
I designed on goSupermodel before, but they started getting very restrictive. Then VP appeared, so I moved over together with many others, where we played and designed instead.
↣ How long have you been designing for VP and when did you become a badged designer?
Since the beginning! I don't remember what date we got the badge, but I became a designer in the very first competition together with Shadowjess and Dani.
↣ Do you know how many sets you have made for VP over all those years?
Looks like around 60 in my blog.
↣ How long do you approximately spend on designing one set?
I often spend weeks working on ideas and going to a from working on it. I don't really know how much time I work on drawing it, but I think it is 5-10 hours.
↣ How long do you spend on designing on a weekly/monthly basis?
This varies a lot with me, in periods it’s like my only hobby, and in other months I don't design. I recently did the meme looking back on 2018, and for some months I found 4 designs and some months none.
↣ Where do you get your inspiration?
Everywhere, from people on vp, people in real life and random pictures or memes!
↣ Show us your first design and your latest design!
It's not my latest, but a short while ago I remade my first VP design, so I wanted to show that.
↣ What made you want to redesign your very first design? Did it have any reasoning or special idea behind it, or was it just a random thought?
I saw an awesome redesign from Masi, so I just wanted to see if I had improved as much.
↣ What program do you use for designing? And do you use a mouse or a drawing tablet?
Paint tool SAI, and a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch tablet. In the beginning I used a mouse, but that is a lot slower for me.
