NT Magazine: December (by Private)

This month, a very special event took place: the first ever TikTok competition on Virtual Popstar. The decision to host it was made by VP’s owner Kaj, and the event took place on all three servers.

To participate, you had to join TikTok and make a video based on the dressup aspect of VP. There were some wild prizes up for grabs, with a Solovey set in multiple colour variants, popdollars, credits and promotion points, even gift cards with real life money. What prize one wins depends on the amount of views one’s video gets, so with the amount of participants, we can probably expect a bit of an inflation in the VP economy soon.

The results will be announced in the beginning of January, including who wins the bonus prize of the most creative TikTok as judged by the admin.

Every month we in News Team have chosen a user to receive the title of User of the Month based on nominations we have received. As 2020 is almost over, we thought we would take a look at all of those who have been User of the Month this year to celebrate them. From Vissy in January to Misjel in November, all users who have received the title have been doing their part of making Virtual Popstar a better place. This can be by doing something special or just by being an all-around positive influence. To continue with this, we would love for you all to write to our team account if you know of someone you think deserves the title. Remember to include why they should receive it.

Below is the list of the Users of the Month in 2020:

January: Vissy, for being positive and kind in the forums

February: Libertas, for all the time and dedication he invests in teamwork on VP

March: Luminescence, for creating a sense of community while giving everyone something fun to do by taking initiative with hosting events

April: Josten, for being a general ray of sunshine, a shoulder to lean on, and someone who will keep you motivated through the most meaningless of tasks

May: Horcrux (then Hypoxic), for being a sweet and caring person, and for her dedication to the teams she is a part of, especially her work during the ET bootcamp

June: Lamb (then Mikkelrev), for her contribution as a designer with many amazing designs, including for the male community

July: Aria (then Leo), for always being kind and spreading a lot of positivity on the site

August: Nesta, for her continued efforts to share knowledge, inspire and host various forms of forum activities

September: Moongirl, for her generosity, for creating a welcoming, open forum for people to hang out, and for being there for you when you need her

October: Raquelle, for being a kind and helpful person to the users on VP

November: Misjel, for her friendliness and the positivity she brings to the site

No more flash games
On December 15h the flash games (Paparazzi, the rose game and limo) was removed due to Flash Player no longer being in use. This means that only the classic games are left, you can get a chance to win the HOF set via the classic games. This, unfortunately, will result in the HOF sets being less in-game from now on. However, Kaj did mention that if VP gains a lot of new users, which will stay on the site, we might get some new games.

MCW
As always, on the first week of the month it was time for the Mega Credit Week. This time the credit week began on November 30th and the last day to get the sets was on December 6th. In this mega credit week there were six female sets and females got an extra set per credit pack, so in total 12 sets. Males got a total of four sets and, sadly, no extra sets. You can see all the sets in this forum.

Auctions
For the monthly auction in December, we had a total of four sets. The female popdollar set was made by Bones while the male set was made by Shadowjess. The credits set for males was made by Lamb and the female set by Solovey. You can find all the sets in this forum.

Extra auction weekend
This month we also got an extra auction weekend hosted by Shadowjess to get some credits out of the system. The sets was designed by Melk and you can see them below this part. The sets could be bought during 24 hours during two weekends in a row, from Saturday to Sunday two weekends in a row.

Their videos consist of vp related content, but also other fun videos such as recipes and vlogs. If you want to know more about the YouTube team, check out this article

For this round of applications, you will have to submit your application in video format, which applies to both hopeful ‘editors’ and ‘vloggers’. The deadline for sending in your application is 10 January 2021; read up on all the information you need to know before applying here.

Starting off this month of new competitions, was ET with the final round in the Norse mythology inspired series, Ascension to Asgard. This final round, End of Everything, was a meme comp based on the story of Ragnarok, with prizes designed by Delcinne. And then, on 15 December, together with the winners of the meme round, ET could announce the overall winners of the series, who were rewarded with the Viking sets designed by Lamb.

ET’s first dressup competition of the month was based in the punk movement, and then particularly the fashion. The task was simple - dress your avatar in punk! The prizes for this event were sets designed by Upshift (M) and Lonika (F). Check out the prizes, as well as all the fantastic looks created for this competition, here.

As it is December, there were of course both winter and holiday themed competitions this month! First up was a classic, SMT’s who wore it best. For this winter themed WWIB, females were asked to style a red and wite vest with christmasy pompoms, while males competed in trying to style a typical ‘ugly christmas sweater’. The prize for this event was a collection of scarves in different colours and styles for both genders, all designed by Bones.

Next up from SMT was another dressup, this time with the holiday appropriate theme: Golden Christmas. As the title suggests, the task was to dress your avatar up in golden tones, and a lot of people took this opportunity to start dressing in holiday glam. The prize sets for this event were both designed by Ouch, and you can see the full preview of the prizes, as well as scroll through to see all the entries, here

As well as being a holiday competition, this next comp was also the first round of a new series based on the well known world of Harry Potter. For the Yule Ball competition, the task was to find a partner and dress up in matching outfits to attend the Yule ball, like the Patil twins. The winners of this event received the gorgeous sets designed by Annie, showcased in the thread linked above.

Moving on from the dressup competitions, FT’s holiday competition this year was a photography comp. This time, the theme was Christmas trees, and the task was to take a photo, or dig up an old one, of a Christmas tree. Matching female and male sets designed by Allie were awarded to all the winners. Click here to see all the beautiful trees!

On 23 December, SMT hosted an interactive competition based event. The Christmas festivities event was split into three games; word scramble, Christmas movie quiz and guess the vp user. After more than a hundred and fifty pages of games and chatting, 30 lucky winners received the fantastic prizes designed by Lamb (F) & Petal (M)!

And finally, let’s talk about ET’s final competition of the month and also the year. This comp is about summarising the year we’re now leaving behind us, because in many ways, 2020 did sort of suck. However, the comp 2020 sucks is not about dwelling over everything that didn’t go your way, but rather to look at how you’ve changed throughout the year. You can still enter this dressup competition, so check out this thread for all the rules and how to enter!

For many, December is a month filled with Christmas activities, and VP is certainly no exception. First of all, the News Team, Social Media Team and Event Team, plus a number of designers, worked together to bring everyone the latest edition of VP's yearly advent calendar. Filled with codes for both females and males every day leading up to Christmas, the calendar contained 25 days of new items perfect for the winter and Christmas season. Mixed with some fun games and puzzles, the calendar kept us all entertained while waiting for Christmas to come.

More items could be obtained through SMT's daily raffles, in which users stood a chance to win old sets and items previously used as prizes for competitions hosted by the team. Giving people the chance to help SMT's team accounts get rid off old items laying around in their wardrobes has proven to be a winning concept, so who knows, maybe it will be back next year? Finally, the Social Media Team also made sure to pay tribute to the Christmas spirit of generosity, by once again hosting a Secret Santa event. Everyone who signed up received the name of a user to whom they were supposed to send gifts, giving users the option to gift everything from manager to a personalised piece of art.

As the Christmas season has now come to an end, we hope you've liked this month's events, and look forward to bringing you more enjoyable content in the coming year!

The fashion page had it's uprising in the August magazine this year. It first started with mix and match items to make unique combinations of makeup and shoes. The purpose of this page is to be a page that is focusing on everything fashon related on Virtualpopstar. All from outfit showcasts, combinations of different items, '3 looks 1 item' and other fun fashion related articles.
This month we asked a few users to make looks for New Year's Eve, we got a lot of amazing outfits and they are displayed to the left on this page.
Let's all adore these amazing looks!

Another year has come to an end, and as we look back, I suppose most of us can agree that this has not been the year we were hoping for. 2020 has been a tough year, and our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by this year’s tragedies.

To finish off the 24th NT magazine, and this full year on VP, on a lighter note, we thought it would be fitting to reminisce on the magazines from this past year. Click on each of the covers to go back to that month’s magazine, and revisit all the exciting competitions, release of gorgeous new sets and all other happenings from the year we now put behind us.

We would like to thank you for all the comments, submissions and new suggestions we have gotten throughout the year, but also to the silent readers; we know you are there, and you are appreciated. We are looking forward to continuing the monthly magazines for a third consecutive year, and we hope you will be there with us!

We in the NewsTeam wish you all a safe and happy new year!

some might be hidden in the title? there's a whole lot of them and some are a bit difficult to see with the title and the fireworks in there, but if you really click them all, it should work

if you have any issues with the game, just refresh the game as the fireworks are randomly places each time

tried it three times
although they are random, there's always that one going in the corner just above the 15 so I can't click it
don't know if it's maybe because of the script or I'm just having the worst of luck

5th time was the charm, thanks for the reminder!
