as a regular gig-goer, I always notice that some people get rather anxious when they are first attending a gig. in my eyes, going to a gig or concert is pretty much a part of most teenager's lives, no matter what genre they listen to. whether it be a heavy metal rock convert with a load of bikers, or a justin bieber concert with swooning teenybops, there's a chance that in your teenage life you're going to get the change to go to a concert. so these are just a few little things I think are great for first timers, just as a little guideline.
ARRIVING EARLY - this normally will guarantee you a place at the front of the queue and will hopefully let you enjoy the gig more, especially if you're smaller! wave your arms about and dance, get yourself seen by the musician!
DRESS APPROPRIATELY - big jackets don't tend to go well, especially if it's your favourite coat and you don't want it to get ruined. venues get hot and sweaty, you don't want to be holding it all night! take something you don't particularly care about losing, or something thin to ensure you're warm afterwards.
FOLLOW THE RULES - different venues have different rules on what is okay and what's not. some let you bring in water, whereas others will provide it for you. respecting the rules is key, because if you don't you risk losing your place in the gig. it's not fun!
EAT AND DRINK BEFORE - a lot of people tend to not eat/drink before a gig because they don't want to be going to the toilet etc. however it's very important to stay hydrated as it does get warm and you don't want to ruin your great time by having to leave!
the main thing to remember is to enjoy yourself! there is no point in worrying about what others are wearing or doing. this is probably something you've been looking forward to for a long time, and thee is no reason why it shouldn't be one of the best nights of your life!
so, what do you make sure you do when you go to a concert?
