I'm sure you already know that flowers are grown from seeds right? I'll just skip that fact and go down to more interesting flower facts.

Dandelions: Though they are common and may seem like weeds, dandelions are a great source of vitamin A and C, iron, calcium and potassium. "One cup of dandelion greens provides 7,000-13,000 I.U. of vitamin A."(GardenChannel)

Lilies: In the 17th century, Madonna lily would even be use for treatments such as snake bites and sore muscle. Dating 3,000 years back, Madonna lily is one of the oldest lilies.

Dahlia: The nation flower of Mexico, Dahlia, is related to both a daisy and a sunflower. It would often be use for decorations in cake, tarts, pastries, and salads.

Carnations: Carnation is the national flower of Spain. Often are yes to symbolize feeling, red for deep love, white for pure love, and yellow for dejection. In Korea, carnations are even use to tell a young girls future.

Roses: Roses are a symbol of love and are often use to express romantic feeling during Valentine's Day. "Roses are related to apples, raspberries, cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, pears and almonds."(GardeningChannel)

Tulips: Instead of roses, tulips were a symbol of love in Russia. In Holland, during the 1600s, tulip bulbs were even more valuable than gold. Tulip bulbs can also be substituted for onions.

Lotus: "The lotus was considered a sacred flower by ancient Egyptians and was used in burial rituals. This flower blooms in rivers and damp wetlands, but may lie dormant for years during times of drought, only to rise again with the return of water. Egyptians viewed it as a symbol of resurrection and eternal life."(GardeningChannel)

Sunflowers: Young sunflowers tend to face toward the sun, so during different time of the day, you can find the sunflowers facing different direction, the direction of the sun. Another way to put it is that, "Sunflowers move throughout the day in response to the movement of the sun from east to west."(GardenChannel)

Moon Flowers: Moon flowers only bloom at night, closing during the day. "Giant-size, morning-glory-type trumpets open at dusk instead of dawn and have a beautiful fragrance. The lemony-scented flowers are 5 1/2" wide and appear from midsummer to frost."(burpee.com)
