So the time where we all bring out the advent calendars , put the Christmas trees up and so on as it is drawing near as December the 1st is only just a little bit over a week away. Now we are used to either making our own advent calendars where you buy some sweets and put them into the little pockets or the chocolate ones they sell at just about any supermarket. But come on, we all now they taste awful.
It seems that Advent calendars this year have had a bit of a reinvention. I think I am a little late on this advent calendar band wagon but I don't know many people who are aware of the amazing Advent calendars you can get. Brands such as Benefit Cosmetics, Jo Malone, The Body Shop, Selfridges Ciaté , Liberty, No7, Elemis, L'Occitane and Yankee candle. These come at a price but I think they are worth it, you seem to get a lot for you money. For this post I'm going to be looking at three different calendars; Yankee Candle, Benefit Cosmetics and The body Shop. Now I only own the Yankee candle one but I'm just going to go through what you get, what it looks like and what people have said about it and so on :) I can't properly judge on the Yankee Candle one either because I haven't used it yet but it looks super pretty and the box smells good (har har)
I hope this article gives you a little insight into the different advent calendars you can get out there and if you know of any other cool ones tell me in the comments! Hope you enjoy J
So the Yankee Candle calendar is incredibly pretty in my opinion, it's like a Christmas reef with sparkly bit, pretty baubles and of course it contains those little doors that hold the good stuff. With the Yankee calendar you are getting twenty four tea light candles that will be one of six seasonal scents. The scents you will be getting with this calendar is Icicles, Angel's Wings, Snowflake cookie, Cranberry Ice, Christmas cookie and Christmas Garland. It also says that you will receive an extra treat on Christmas eve. The calendar comes at a cost of £21.99 which works out to be $34.43 US dollars. From what I’ve seen this looks like the second year that Yankee have made such a product and many of the reviews on these products are positive. On the ratings on the Yankee candle website it has a majority of five stars, some people giving it four stars but there is nothing below that. Overall it has a rating of 4.9 stars. As seen in the comments on the Yankee website the only critique people have with this product is that it’s overpriced. I had a little look around and you could buy two boxes of 12 tea lights for £8 cheaper as the two boxes would work out at £6.99 each. I personally think that this is worth the money as it’s something a little bit different and special.

Now this, in my opinion, would be any makeup lover or benefit cosmetics fan's idea of advent calendar heaven. It comes at a price of £60, which works out to be $93. Now out of all of them I think this is by far the prettiest, I don’t think I would want to open it! With this advent calendar you get 24 different mini Benefit Cosmetics products such as High Beam, The POREfessional, They’re Real! And many more. This set even includes sticky notes, a doodle pad, heart shaped paper clips and a pink hair tie! This must be a real favourite as it is sold out on the Benefit website and I’ve even seen it going on EBay for £160! The content of this calendar is worth £109.53 which would be a total of $171.50 so this is saving you almost £50|! although you are only getting the mini products. I think for someone who loves makeup then it would be the perfect idea for an advent calendar and it gives you something to look forward to and like The Body Shop calendar you could safe them and they could last you a while. I think it’s a brilliant way to test out if you like a product.
