It's no surprise that garments that are associated with the 1990s have come back in style as many of us "90's kids" are in our later adolescence to early adulthood years; the prime time to play with our own style. The 90s was a very nostalgic time period we choose to express through the clothes we wear. Although these items may not have originated in the 90s, they've become trends associated with that time period.
Chokers have become an infamous garment associated with the 90s. Chokers are a variation of a necklace in the form of a band that fits snug around the neck. They are often decorated with a single token or multiple tokens. Often times the token can be a symbol representing a view, but it can be purely for decoration, as well. With their simplicity and ability to coordinate with any outfit, it is no wonder these little guys are being paired with outfits today.
If I could think of only one fashion statement associated with the 90s, it'd be the jellies. Jellies are a closed-toed type of sandal made from plastic that are often see-through. They come in a wide variety of colors suitable for many styles. In a sense, jellies are one of the most customizable shoes. Wear them with or without socks; wear them with neutral colored socks or crazy, patterned socks. Those cute, new kitten socks you bought pair perfectly with these sandals.
Overalls are another essential piece associated with the 90s. They're basically a pair of jeans with extra material extending upwards over the chest and back joined by detachable straps. Most are made of jean material that covers the full length of the leg; however, some overalls have a shorter length and/or are available in other clothing materials. Overalls may be one of the easiest trends to style because they can be worn in any season and can be dressed up or down in accordance with personal style. A simple t-shirt underneath is all that is needed, although a fancier blouse could dress up the look.
